Right Finally Ventruing into Marine.

I Would like to use the below cube. with just a peice of live rock and what ever grows on that. and maybe some inverts.
I still have equipment from when i had a brackish tank so dont need to buy anything but the sand and rock.

I have had a look at the marine centres that are local and out of town and Brum. but none have had peices of live rock suitable for what i want to do.

I know that there is an online marine shop in radford/coventry but have not been able to find that persons details.

Very nice start. I'm interested to hear how this will go with such a small volume of water. Are you planning on any photosynthetic life?

not sure yet. i am gonna keep it simple. and if i can keep this stable then i may venture into a larger tank with more interesting inhabitants.

Oh Lighting.
1 11watt Day tube
1 11watt Reef tube.

I am gonna use this heater which i love as it can be buried in the sand so wont be visible.

Also i have 3 more Pico tanks like this one but in diffrent shapes so i might change which one i use in the end.

well jsut bought the sand, so thats sorted. too cold today and did not bother going out. gunna go brum in the morning and look at erdington and shirleys.

if prices are not good enough then i'll stick with ebay.

Thanks so much for recommending Erdington Aquatics. they were amazing. The People were so nice to talk to and explained stuff well. The prices were 1-2 Pound Ccheaper per fish.
Live rock and Live Rubble were only 2.50 a Kilo and mature rocks were only 9.95 per kilo.

I bought 3 Peices of mature Coral/Rock and it has some Live long Purple things crawling around on it. The marine Guiy had just been doing maintenance on the Live Mature Rock Tanks, so it was all still warm.

And loads of Rubble for a Canister Filter I am making.

The Guy Filled a Large bag with RO water (2gallons worth) and i Spent a Grand Total of 1.80 On everything. And its all I need to Set up the Pico.

Im am at My Nephews and will be home within 2 hours to set it up. So watch out for Pix Later today or tommorrow.

£1.80? Your joking! Sounds great mate, keep us posted! Gonna look great with that lighting on it :good:

No worrys dude. All the shops I listed above have quite good reps, so much so that I travel over 100mile a time every other week to visit them all to see what they have in store etc! :good:

The last time I went Erdington Aquatics though (just before xmas), I noticed a black and yellow lobster eating a skunk cleaner shrimp in one of the display tanks. Was a right fascinating and freaky sight at the same time, as the shrimp was still alive moving it's claws and antennae etc although half it's body was missing as the lobster was chomping away on it! The thing I found most amazing however was watching another cleaner shrimp; who I'm assuming was the mate of this victim; try and pull the other free and out of the lobster's claws. Thay was there having a sort of tug-of-war with the good samaritan shrimp even trying to have a go at the lobster by jumping on it's back before quickly moving off as the lobster tried to grab it in a fruitless attemp to free it's comrade!

I just thought I share that experience with you.

Anyways glad you got a bargain and good luck with your pico and get some pics up soon. ;)
