Pet Store had 2 male Bettas in 1 tank!!!

wait, so u're saying that if I got like 2 female bettas, they would do ok? I doubt I will anytime soon, but just for future reference

Four or more females in a tank to spread out aggression and be prepared with backup housing as they often do not work either.

thanx
and btw- sry bt the 2 males thing, looking back on it, it was a stupid idea, seeing as they are "fighting Fish"
Actually it wasn't that stupid considering it was a controlled experiment... you are trying to disprove something that was long thought to be a law set in stone, and if successful, could possibly revolutionize betta-keeping forever. OK, I'm being overly dramatic, but it definitely wasn't stupid as long as you kept an eye on the situation.

daniodude:

Your so called experiment is nothing but animal abuse. If you're so bored with this hobby perhaps you could focus your sadistic tendencies to something inanimate.

For the last 150 years or so that betta's have been used for show and fighting it has been said that "don't keep two males together". And now you come with your silly little 10g tank and some hiding places and you want to challenge that law - which is actually set by Mother Nature?

This section of the forum is supposed to be for betta lovers and most members fall into that category, but it never crossed my mind that somebody in this forum will do a stupid thing like putting two male bettas together.

I hope the forum moderator takes notice and watches those people who propagate putting two male bettas together.

chill zoraak, he admitted it was a "stupid thing" to do, lets leave it at that.

You don't need to be "stupid's advocate" here, let him defend himself... I'm chilled, just suprised at the sheer level of retarded-ness.

btw- I admitted it was a stupid Idea, but I didn't really think about it until after I did it. next time I will think b4 I do somthing.

also, I'm not bored with the hobby, I have plenty to do, I still have to get some more fish for my 20 long, I have 6 Zebra Danios and a Betta, and YES they are doing FINE
oh, and btw the way I don't appreciate being called a retard or stupid

zoraack,

Who is propagating putting two males into the same tank? I don't see that anywhere in this thread . . .
What I see is a discussion and Daniodude asking for opinions. Looks to me like he jumped the gun and realized that.

I think calling him stupid and accusing him of animal abuse is completely out of line. This is a forum where people discuss fish and exchange ideas. You can do so without name calling and belittling other members.

Exchanging ideas? Putting two male bettas together? Not to mention the picture of two male bettas in the same tank?

If that’s how you people exchange ideas in this forum then I'm sorry it was my fault to visit this section of the forum and rebuke those who wanted to take on the "challenge" of putting two male bettas together.

... If i catch anyone who put two male bettas together I would personally take them to police for animal cruelty, and make sure they never keep fish again... Name calling such people is quite mild, so keep your advice for yourself.

zoraak, you need to calm down. he said that it was a contoroled experiement and he had a net on hand. daniodude loves his bettas. he would not do that to kill his bettas.

enough said.
