I've been having "the tank war" with my mom for about a year now. Mostly with the betta bowls scattering the house. But with the last two bettas I bought I got NO grief from her. I was kind of scarred. Maybe she's planning something -_-

Once a week I get the "I'm getting rid of your tanks" speech but nothing ever comes of it.

Just use the ol' "I'm gonna breed them to make us money" scam. Works everyyyyy time. :hey:

I got my b/f addicted when i started breeding fish. When he saw the little babies being born he just fell inlove! So now he has one 10g, 3 one gallon bowls and one 25 gallon tank in his room!
Then I got my mom addicted, but thats a story for another day.......

It hasn't been a problem for us--and we increase/decrease the number of tanks on a yearly basis. What works for us is to simply treat the other person as an intelligent adult. If we don't agree on something, there's usually a good reason and we discuss it, just like we would anything else.

And yeah...I would LOVE to add another tank. But not right now.

I got the first tank for a christmas pres from the live in BF...he thought it would shut me up....and it did....till I needed a quarantine tank "but honey, if one fish gets sick, I don't want it making the others sick"....then the 75gall "those cichlids are soooo cool, and the tank was on special..."...I drove 3 hours to get it so he can't make me send it back...and the 6 gall...."the betta needs his own tank"...now the betta died...and I plan on having the platy fry and catfish fry in there....maybe....hmmmm

I am yet to convince him to have a bedhead tank!! One day perhaps

Nagging is a good option

Hi canarsie11 :)

Here's a plan....... :shifty:

Why not get her a betta in a little tank as a gift for a special occasion? But that's not the whole thing, because once she has it, she will have to learn about how to take care of it. Then you introduce her to the forum where she will see how popular fishkeeping is. Once she meets us and starts posting she'll surely want to get more bettas since one is never enough!

Before long you will be able to get all the tanks you want as long as she can get more too! ;)

I JUST GET A NEW FISH TANK WHENEVER I FEEL LIKE IT WHETHER MY OLD MAN LIKES IT OR NOT.

((Hahaha, typed in caps. I did it just to annoy the people it annoys. :hey: :p))

;) Hi I'm very new at fishkeeping also. I started it because my grandson who is handicapped kept wanting to look at fish and wanting me to buy some. well I started with a small tank. My husband would tell me everytime I bought another tank "hon what are you doing" when I had 5 tanks. He got into the tanks. He went and bought a hugh tank and we put the fish that could go together together. We now have 3 tanks, and 1 hosptial tank.

I know what you mean. At first my parent would only let me get 1 10gal tank. Now 3 years later I have 8. But it took me all that time to get that many. It also took alot of patience, planing, and hard work, but it was worth it.

I recently went through that battle when I added the 54 corner and a 37G at the same time. I told her the 37 was for her oscar she said fine then sell the other. I said I'll tear down the 2 5G Hex's. Well needless to say I've got the 37 the 54 thr 46 and the 2 5G Hex's running all at the same time.

The next battle will be when I want to add a 155 Bow.
