Hell yeah, defo not easy, agree with Ian tho I think that arrangement is awesome just needs a shift. :)

You should have seen me trying to scape my 1 litre lol.

I hope you don't mind me doing this Jack, but this is what i would do...I am no means the worlds best aquascaper BTW!

the blue is where you're golden rule sits, the green is where i would put the blue coloured 'V'.

people reading this, must recognise that Jack is working with a really small tank, and it's really difficult to scape a tank this size.

First, this is the most epic use of paint, EVER!!

Second, Jack, do you have another rock? Hehehe, I can use paint too... :hey:

Otherwise, if you don't, just shift it as Ian says.

I think this is the one:

Water is a little cloudy, the nutrasoil seems to powder when crushed, I'll get some floss in there to buffer the water a bit.

Thanks for the help Ian

Liz the remaining rock is too small, but thanks for the advice :)

That looks spot on mate, looking forward to planting.

i can see it now...once that substrate is banked this could be a really really good scape. I reckon you should go for a mini version of Mark Evans current scape. The rocks and the positioning is almost identical but a nano version. Have a look at his planting and just go for smaller version of the back plants. I call this a winner Jack.

and llj, i have a GCSE in Ms paint :p

Eh, I'm not loving it. I like mine better. :p Get a bigger rock.

Haha, thanks everyone for the help, now I'm off to read through some journals for inspiration.

I went on a Garden Centre Trawl this afternoon looking for the plants I want, the Pogostemon helferi is coming from a member on here, out of the 5 places I went one place had Staurogyne repens, just one pot mind and the tank was off sale due to treatment, just my #41#### luck.
I got a pot of C.wendtii for £3 so not bad at all from Trowell.

Wharf has always got Staurogyne in mate. :good:

Probably too far for you to go, but the MA at East Bridgeford always has loads of plants in. And i mean LOADS.

Thanks, Wharf is a little out of the way, about 45 minutes drive and I'm yet to go to MA at East Bridgeford, I might have to give it a go sometime this week, otherwise I'll have to pay over the odds and get it online.

They do the same deal as other MA's on plants at 4 for £10. Their range of Cryptocorynes is to die for. Ian recommends them very much.

:good:

Crypts in, I had no where else to put them, I didn't want to put them in the main tank as I don't want snails in here, on and there was a hitch hiker on the Crypts, a little shrimplet who I'll never catch without using a trap so I'll leave it be for the time being and see how it gets on.

Just waiting for Richard of AE to get some Staurogyne repens in now.
Water still a little cloudy, I might put some purigen and Carbon in.
And the hitch hiker:

My sister dropped my camera and now it wont focus properly so I think I need a new lens :/

P.helferi arrived this morning, it took a proverbial battering in the post but they should soon brighten up, some of the Crypts are melting :/

Hopefully you can see what I am aiming to achieve, S.repens to go in the midground.

I tested the ammonia and nitrite this morning, both 0, so I presume the plants have up taken any so I've added 5 Cherry Shrimp, 3 males and 2 females I believe, the 2 females have saddles.

And #28### me there's a snail in there(unintentional introduction), oh well!

Looking good as always mate. Should be a little cracker when finised! :D

The crypts have really livened up. The light must be to their liking. They're going to love having their feet in that substrate. Be interesting to see what you helferi does compared to mine.
