Hi guys,

The tank has now been up and running for five weeks. Things are going well thanks mainly to seffie and her miracle RO water and zoas! (thanks batman)

I want to start a refugium in the rear compartment. Not sure how to do it though. I'll need to fix a light somehow - don't know how and don't know what light - I was wondering if sunlight would be enough to grow chaeto... If I grow copepods in the back, will they make it throught the powerheads and into the tank or would they get deaded?

Any advice would be wonderful.!

Hi,

I use a Hagen Marina Aquarium LED Light in the back of my tank, works a treat :good: ,

When I do water change, I add water to back weir and this helps flush it and any copepods out to main system.

Any pictures yet

As you can see everything is getting too big for the tank now  My plans: Set-up the five footer within the next month, frag the hammer so Trod can have a piece and then sell the nano

As you can see I have nearly beaten the cyano :good: I have cut down the food and very slowly moved the powerhead - this I did only in the day and mm at a time to ensure Bill did not move :good:

When I make his home for the five footer, I will be ensuring several things for his welfare:

He needs LR all round him, almost like a bucket with a hole, the hole doesn't need to be a tight fit, just as long as he has the security of the rock all around him, he is happy :fun: with no direct flow hitting him. Have also bought a tunze nano wavebox, will have one powerhead aimed at the surface (with a homemade guard).

Will see if there is enough flow - there should be.................but if not bung in another powerhead

If anyone is interested in the nano, it will be up for sale in approx a months time

Mum is doing really well, there has been some improvement on the latest x-ray. She has lost her hair but has a stunning wig, NHS will now pay for a decent wig if you lose hair to chemo. Doctors are pleased with the progress so far.

Unfortunately, the trauma injury has initiated Osteoarthritis in my spine, this is why it does not seem to be improving much, will definately need 3 lots of injections and may need the joint fused. Really not happy, OA at 30, will have trouble with that for the rest of my life now.

I'm glad your mum is doing well, what cycle of chemo is she on now? Good wigs on the NHS, wonders will never cease, I had to spend a fortune on mine - now it sits in a box somewhere - why haven't I thrown it out, thats the next job, pluck up the courage to pick the box up and 'bin it', actually, think I will just leave it along with the memories in the back of the cupboard gathering dust - best place for those sort of memories

Osteo - oh no, as if you haven't had enough already  why the blooming heck can't they burn your nerves NOW - they know you will need that long term and probably the joint fusion, it makes you so cross

I wouldn't mind Seffie but my appointment in spinal clinic is not till 30th June, I am waiting for an appointment to pain clinic for a nerve block (hopefully occy health consultant will get me in quick) but it is going to be July before I get the next injections, I wish they would do something quick. On top of that the surgery on my arm will probably be July aswell. There were others there the day I had the injections, they were in nowhere near as much pain, so they must know the injections won't work.

All prescriptions for cancer patients are now free, it means they can write a script for a wig, you then take it to a decent wig shop and they claim money back from NHS. It should have been £197. She has had 2 cycles, her 3rd is Wednesday next week.

It's just madness, that they know what you need to help you but they insist on going the, three injections route first

How many cycles is your mum having?

6 cycles, its her 2nd chemo, she had an adjuvant prevention first that did not work and then she had Erlotinib (Tarceva) for 18 months that held it but then stopped working. They may review it at the end.

chemo sucks

Anyway - calcium testing, I have the salifert one and really can't get on with it, any one got any suggestions, surely there is an easier way?

My tests all come up at around 430 -450 but my coraline algae is decreasing
