Our 125gal Tank

You post way too many pics

And I swear I clean the tank walls, but the green algae comes back very quickly.... BAH! I'll never have a nice pretty algae free (for the most part) tank!

CO2 is almost definatley your problem, distribution is hard in a tank that size, how are you diffusing it?

*gasp* There can never be too many pics! lol

For diffuser, using a mini internal filter to help break up the CO2. It's positioned slightly in front of the filter output so the bubbles from it get pushed to the rest of the tank.

CO2 has been steady for a while. Haven't had to adjust it. As far as I can tell, it gets dissolved well in the little filter. *shrugs*

im also having an algae problem slightly :S

im gonna dose liquid Co2 for while; see how that goes ;)

I dunno what to do. Thinking I need to stop being lazy and start doing 2 water changes a week until the tank matures a bit more. The algae is getting way out of hand though. All over the rocks, plants, tank walls... it's looking grim.

mine is on the glass, its green spot! dosed Co2 today! hope it clear up! good luck to you too! :good:

Good luck to you as well :D
I would dose with some excel, but that'd only be a temporary fix if it does anything... b/c who the heck in their right mind would want to use that much excel on a big tank every day rofl.

Just did weekly water change... MAN.. the algae is getting so so bad. Green dust, spot, and brown algae all over the place. The rocks look all gross, the wood is getting covered in algae, the heaters are growing green fur... and the plants... the poor plants :(

I'd say go for the excel now, otherwise the situation is only going to get worse and worse. While you dose and target the algae, waterchanges will get rid of a lot of spores and in time the plants should take over and use the nutrients. Then you should be ok to reduce/stop the excel and the problem should be resolved as long as nutrient/light/co2 balance is level. One problem of yours now is that the plants are so covered in algae that they struggle to survive and the growth is stunted. I really like this tank and hope you can solve the algae problem! I had quite a brown algae attack on my last tank but it just resolved on it's own once the maturing was complete.

it might be a permanent fix as stated above. Once you get rid it wont grow back unless the conditions are favourable towards algae. Once you have algae it will keep on growing as they can survive in the same conditions as plants

Bleh... just the thought of using that much excel hurts my wallet! lol Don't have anywhere around us that sells it, so would have to buy more off the net if I run out... sigh.
I guess I could try it though... try to rub off as much of the algae as I can from the leaves and such. Gonna be 1 big pain in the butt.

i would seperate up the hairgrass into clumps and then trim them down to the level of the substrate. like this but photo is taken before i have trimmed them down. Preferably seperate them up more than i have done.

How is your plants doing now? Are the vals surviving?

All the plants seem to be doing ok :D
Well my fav sword plant isn't looking too great for some reason. I'm not exactly sure why but I got a turkey baster so I can squirt some liquid stuff right on to certain areas.

Looks like the staghorn, BBA, whatever it is is gone.. or at least not as noticeable. BUT in its place is a ton of green dust and brown algae. The brown algae is just going insane and is all over almost everything in the tank. The plants are still trying to hang in there though.
The new vallis I got is doing pretty well. The big fat jungle val is starting to grow some new leaves, and I think the corkscrew is as well, but just taking a bit longer to get settled I guess.
Uhm.. the tiger lotus are doing well :D The one in the left hand corner is growing well. The leaves on all of them are still a bit tiny, but they're getting there heh.

And yep... that's pretty much it. Will be doing another water change on Weds or Thursday.
Will try to remember to take some photos tonight :)

Noooooo.... I found one of the clown loaches dead just a little bit ago.
Absolutely nothing looked wrong with it. So confused and worried.
It was probably one I noticed yesterday after doing the water change. It was resting up on the heater, but swam away when I got close.

No bloating, no weird spots or marks on it, it was just... dead. WTH??? Maybe it had a bad reaction to the excel or something? I dunno.... just have absolutely no idea what could've caused it to die. Now I'm gonna be worried about the other ones.
Sigh.. just so... sad :(

Hubby said we can get more of them, but I dunno... after the first batch of clowns we got with ich. I'm just SO worried about getting more. We got lucky with these... I just don't know if that luck will hold up when we get more, ya know?

Thought I would post up progression tank shot. Just to show where the tank started out and what it looks like now :)
((I'm bored, leave me be!))
