My friend just got 3 oscars and put them in his 29 gallon tank. He says they are 3 inch, 4 inch, and a 4 1/2 inch. He said he will be upgrading to a 150 tank later on. I just want to make sure taht everythign will be alright. Will all three oscars be ok in a 150 gallon tank when they are full grown? Also, he said he wanted to feed them feeder guppies as treats, should he do that (i sent him the link about it) or is there any other treats for oscars.

Dont know much about oscars except they need 75 gallons per oscar. But i think they would do fine in a 150 gal.

Thats actually wrong. It is a 75 gallon for an Oscar alone. A 150 will be fine for three, with some room to spare.

Guppies are okay fish to feed, most live-bearers, are highly nutritious. Try to gut-load them with good food (high quality flake, and frozen foods.) This will insure they are very nutritious! :D

I don't recommend keeping them in the 29 gallon! Mainly just because they may not grow properly due to lack of space (yes even in the 29 gallon)! He may not even see them grow, just because of the tank factor.

Tell him he needs to get them into that 150 gallon ASAP!

He should be good to go once he does :good:

Yes.. 75gal per oscar is a good water ratio... 75+75+75= 225gal. With 55gal per oscar being considered a bare minimum.
Oscars are large growing fish, that create a very large amount of waste. Not to mention the aggression that will be among the ranks when they hit maturity.

75 per gallon isn't really correct from what I understand...

And, 55 gallons is too small (again from what I understand).
