Orange Stripe Eggs.....

I bought some frozen baby brine shrimp and defrosted it in a small amount of tank water and gave this to my fry every few days, but mainly they were reared on first bites :)

Hows the fry doing?

Hi, just been in and gave them some first bites. i think a few more eggs hatched over night :hyper: did a 45% water change on parents tank then did a 50% water change in the tub using tank water. gonna go back in an hour or so to clean any uneaten food and to do a head count if poss.... do you put any sand in the tub? or is that not required until they go into their own tank?

I waited until i put the fry in their own tank before i added sand,i transfer the fry to another clean tub and change around 75% of the water each time.

Every one has their own way of rearing them, but i have had success doing it this way so i'm staying with it for this next new lot of fry :)

Good luck :good:

I found the best way to move newly hatched is with the pipette that comes with medication bottles, snip a little of the end to make the whole slightly bigger and then squeeze and suck. Less messing around than with the plunger thing on the syringe :)

Congrats btw :)

just swapped the fry over to another tub with clean water and got some pics, theyre a bit blury but im sure you can make them out.......

there are 27 fry in total, i think......

I'm happy for you.

I give mine first bites about 24 hours after they hatch.

I usually collect my eggs in a livebearer hatchery and then place it into a small plastic tank from Wilkinsons(£5.49)air pump also from Wilkinsons for about £5,with a sponge filter and heater with a thin layer of sand on the bottom.

i lost 1 tonight but gained one this afternoon..... they must have spawned in there too without me knowing!!!!!! loads of cherry shrimp too.

all fry are still doing fine, some bigger than others but i guess theyre the greedy ones  i have 26 in the fry tub at the minute soon to be moved into a small tank of their own and today i spotted 2 fry in the main tank still... these must have hatched from the eggs i left in the tank  so my total is now 28 peru gold stripe fry  i dont know if there are any more in there but im going to leave them in there and see how they get on, the adults dont seem to be trying to snack on them so they should be fine :good:

Aw well done and best of luck really hope they all survive, they sound like they are doing great!
cheers, do you have yours yet? i went to lfs today and in their display tank spotted a gold stripe that was on its own and really big so i asked if i could have it and they said yes but not until they perform a water change as the tank is huge.... so picking it up next weekend, they had forgot it was even in there....!
