hi i have an oranda that has a brownish/gold color, but his head for some reason is turning redish (like his head is hurt or something) But he is still the happy-go-lucky fish he's always been, so i dont think he could be hurt. What is wrong with his head? Is it just growing or changing color, or is this a problem? Thank you

How old is the fish? Can you post a pic? Is the redness looking like blood or inflammation or just a reddish color change? If you've kept goldfish for very long, you will know that they are prone to changing their colors quite regularly and often look nothing like they did even a year before. Is it the wen growing? http://images.google.com/images?um=1&t...-8&q=oranda Or is it just red spots or pimples forming in the wen?

New wen growth is usually white, showing up as little pimple-looking spots.

It is possible that it's changing color. There is normally very little blood flow in the wen, so I'm not sure what it would take for there to be discoloration caused by blood (i.e.: inflammation.)

So far, my bet would be for a simple color change. But it's difficult to be certain. I've never heard of any problem like this (which could be a positive thing.)
