Opinions Wanted Please And A Few Quetions.

Hello all,

Ive recently brought a red sea max.Before i set my tank up im thinking about slightly changing the layout/contents of the filter chambers.

Below is a quick pic of the current set up.

What im thinking of is -

• Swapping the ceramic rings for some LR rubble.In some sort of mesh bag.
  Swapping the carbon for some rowaphos.

What do you guys think to the changes?

Also I have a few questions ,

• What sort of mesh bag do I need for LR rubble?
  Do the rowaphos have to be in a mesh bag? sandwiched between filter floss?
  How much rowaphos will i need?
  Should i ditch the 2 lots of mechanical filter? or do i need this to stop the skimmer pump clogging up?
  The live rock rubble doesnt need light does it?

I don't think you'll need a bag for the rubble but if you do, consider just a women's nylon... Rowaphos should be in a nylon ortherwise it'll get everywhere. How much? Tough to say. The rubble doesnt need light, and I don't know about the mech filter and skimmer pump, would have to see that for myself.

ok many thanks for that.

i guess that amount of rowaphos i need will be will be determined by the amount of phospate my tank produces.
im going to find a mesh netting bag for the LR rubble, that way it makes it easier if i ever need to strip my tank down.

also i was thinking, when its time to put CUC in would it be a good idea to put a bottle of pods into the tank? that way i should have tons of pods for when I want to introduce fish.
