Operation Marine...

Ok in two minds here

I am still running FW lighting and thinking of changing to marine tubes, or i could spend that money on an external filter to run my Phos reactor off of.

Also anyone know how many Nass snails ya get from reefstock it only says £1.25 doesnt give a number of snails ya get so is it 1 snail = £1.25

change the lighting - gives you more options
Yes, one snail

Cheers for clearing that up.

I always plan to change the lighting just matter of when.

On a side note, one of the new hermits was found dead guessing the original hermit took exception to it.

Are you sure it was a dead hermit and not the shell they shed periodically. They do shed quite often in my tank if they are small ones, the larger ones don't do it as often.

Definately a dead one was not a shed, still had flesh in it. And its shell was empty

Picked up a Fluval 305 to run my phosphate reactor and 250ml tub of rowaphos.

Also was informed that the boss would like a yellow watchman gobby and she also loved the look of a blenny of some descriptioin cant remember which it was.

Her stock wish list looks like this.

2 Common Clowns
1 yellow watchman gobby
1 blenny of some sort
1 orchid dotty back or royal gramma

i still have to order the Nass and cerith snails and 1 more blood shrimp and couple other shrimps yet to be confirmed.

uick update, should have last of clean up crew coming tomorrow.

10 Nass Snails and 6 cerith snails.

Plan to get the phos reactor up and running at weekend

Work on the reactor started today, sounds like a nuclear power station but it truly isnt

Had an issue with the fittings on the reactor compared to the FLuval 305 piping that runs from the 305 powering the reactor, it was slightly too big in diameter......there was a solution.

Take one fluval outlet pipe and throw to one side.

Grab spare ehiem 16mm internal diameter pipe from eheim filter on FW Oscar tank and push onto outlet on 305........phew it fits perfectly!

Now cut to length and attach to inlet fixing on reactor nice fit but will help it along with a cable tie when i buy some tomorrow. Now grab remaining pipe which is still very long thank goodness and push onto reactor outlet really nice fit wouldnt even require a cable tie but aas back up that will be done too. run pipe out the back of the cupboard and to the top of the tank going in above the inlet tube for least travel time possible for the water.

Ahh problem........

Eheim tubing is soft pipe and fluval is ribbed. The fluval will bend over the top of the tank without deformation, eheim will not...................how to solve this one?

that can continue through tonight

Nass snails and cerith snails are in by the way

Really interesting - waiting to see how you get on with the CR, are you planning on having a lot of hard corals then?

Sorry forgot to say its a phosphate reactor, not calcium reactor.

Had to reverse all that lot typed up there to get flow out of the outlet.

Inlet from tank goes into Reactor via a flow control valve through Rowaphos, then out of reactor into filter through couple carbon bags and bit more antiphos which i had so thought would use it until its gone then out into the tank.

The flow out is not massive but it gives a nice reaction time for the Rowaphos to act and i have enough turnover in the tank without the filter outlet so not an issue.

Ok tank stats are doing well so Lets strt talking stocking.

2 clowns are a must along with a yellow watchman, boss has spoken

Now i was thinking scarlet hawfish, wife likes these too so that would be in after the two clowns and watchman.

Other than that i have no idea what else would be suitable if anything, marine stocking is new to me.
