Right along with SWMBO a decision was made to close down the Rio400 Oscar tank and convert to a Marine system, nothing fancy, and get the salty stuff into the font room from the bedoom.

This may be a long term project or not depending on funds next yr i have permission for a 5/6x2x2 :good: as i say just need to get the funding in place for that, but this is a good stopgap

Tank was finally emptied of stock today and shutdown and drained, its sat in the corner of the room with 45KG of gravel still in it that i have to put somewhere

Ordered an Osmotics 75GPD 4stage with DI RO unit today with 3 ball valves and washing machine fitment adapter. should arrive duing the week, well i hope so as i pomised my 180 to a mate for a coldwate setup and he needs it straight away.

Will list equipment tomorrow gotta go to work for 10pm 8Hrs Overtime and double bubble will help towards the next upgrade

Woo hoo and he's off...............

I'l lwatch this with interest as I'm planning same thing. how many powerheads do you intend using?
what kind of marine set up you going to do?

I will probably use the 2 Koralia 4's (gotta fix one) for main flow and the Koralia 3 behind the rock work that should be enough, if not i have the Tunze ( if i can get it working)or Seio as backup. I will also have a spray bar running from the Deltec Phos reactor.

AS for kind well it will not venture too far from the current setup just on a larger scale, currently the setup upstairs has

LR and a few mushrooms and a couple Zoa frags wont be venturing too far from that really a few corals like torch and hammerheads may find there way in it depends on a few things.

Just emptied 40KG of gravel from the tank and scrapped off the silicone that was holding the juwel 3d rock background on. now to soak up the last of the water, clean the tank with vinegar/water solution and rinse thoroughly and clean out the filters ready to sell one (eheim 2180, already for sale) and re-use the other (fluval 405)

I only have 2 x 4s in my tank, the Euphyllias dont like too much flow. I did get an outbreak of cyano to start with but now i'm clear (lol sounds like some sort of disease!). I have one pointing along the back wall and one along the front wall, it creates a circular current

little bit more done today, cleaned the old water out of the fluval 405 just gotta give it a good rinse out and the pipes a clean then it will be ready to run the phosphate reactor.

might go with just the 2 K4's and the spray bar vertical in one corner to direct flow down the back glass.

My new 4stage 75GPB RO unit arrived today, gotta sort it all out and fll through the membrane etc not got time to do that fully tonighh.

flush that was meant to be not fll lol

Will unwrap all membranes and flush the system through tomorrow, gotta ggo to work in a minute

RO unit i s hooked up in its temporary home have to relocate it to its permanent home over the weekend....once i have figured out where that is exactly

Production is err well yeh a trickle but didnt expect too much due to outside temps, rejection rate therefore seems high as the waste has a constant flow. Thats going out teh window for now not sure where it will go when in place properly. Waterbut would be ideal but where i can put the unit is limited and not near an outside wall.

ok couple pictures

The tank as it sits this very moment.....alot to do on saturday!

not ideal its stuck in the corrner of the room.

The upgrade will be allocated on the longest wall of the room currently where the lazyboy sofa is  that will move across the room and tank will be in full view, but thats another journal lol

ok next installment

Finished work at midnight friday, got to bed at 2am was wide awak at 520am....night worker for ya so thought would use this to my dvantage and went and picked up a marinee blue and marine white T5 tube for thhe tank....also checked on my Oscar that i gave to LSF and he has been sold and being collected tomorrow or monday :D anywho......

Got home and setup the RO unit, thats been pumping away for 2 hrs now got about 13L of water and chucked 23-24L out the front garden already another to go out shhortly

Also cleaned the tank with a vinegar solution there is couple inches water in it soon to be a bit more so i can pump out most of the water easily with a pump i have spare then soak up the remainder.

Dug out the blue paint for the back and when SWMBO gets home with some masking tape i will paint the back.

still have no idea how i'm gonna fill it before saturday.

anyway heres a couple more pics
