Omg Look What I Found

They are settling in nicely. There was what seemed like a bit of a stare down at first with the original pair, nose to nose each pair side by side, like all 4 were exchanging introductions, or insults lol.
Wish I would of thought to get a picture.

Since then its business as usual, had to add an extra veggie clip since the males don't seem to like to feed next to each other.

Now its a race to see which pair breeds first.. You don't think there could be any interbreeding do you? that thought just popped into my head.

2-3 days and I have this , not expected...
Dad is protecting them right?
WOW ... all I can say is wow.
Whats gestation on these as I cant find a proper Google response?

Amazing! Just let nature take it's course! Unless you can move them all to another tank :/

LOL I feel I have a rabbits foot up my A$$ lately.. I must have been destined for fish as everything has been not easy but rewarding in result.
I have nowhere to put em right now.. I could buy a 10gal and try to instant cycle with media.. maybe, but I have no idea how to deal with eggs..
Guess they wanted to.. and will again I guess so nature it is.

I cant take my nose off the glass.. So lost as to how to deal. Dad seems to be fanning the eggs and is openly aggressive with anything that gets near.
Normal?

Yes, normal. Whiptails are quite easy to breed; it's raising the fry that's difficult. Apparently the fry will not move to find food, so you need to have food available and near to the fry all the time.

Such a great picture! Nature is truly amazing.

My new found favorite LFS hates me .. in a good way,
A literal hour of questioning, almost ignoring the random customers in the store...
went like this "So about the tank.. size? footprint ( I was ready thanks to you guys) parameters? , mates?"

He divulged." been trying for 6 months with these 2. and you get it in 3 days..."
No stress, no setting, crap.. "I hate you" , " lets talk".

I received the royal treatment and total access, lol, I did linger as I did feel a tad special. and he has a catalog I like... I can order, I would assume in bulk some species I don't see around here often..

He has offered $5 per fry up to 30 no questions asked cash or store credit,I have to keep them til 7 days and only pays for live fry (how the crap will he know 7 from 5days?). And agrees to take my overflow live bearers. Yay! as long as they are swimming. sounds like a good deal to me as I have over 45 eggs atm..

WOW,

I think my ex can take that .. I "AM!!" capable even in his arena!!!(OK that was personal..)

edit: So lucky,, knock on wood..

bottom line I am so excited to see this happen.. I watched the eggs for 2 hours at least tonight as they have movement in side them... SO #71###ING COOL!!!
I'm hooked.. I have to feed my addiction...

I think I see the fry developing in the eggs, might take 2-3 days if they're like hoplos...

Great news! How are they doing today?

You must be so pleased to have struck up a good relationship with your LFS :)

The eggs are certainly developing, you can see definite movement within :hyper:

And yes I love my new found LFS, lots of long conversations with the owner, he seems quite knowledgeable and truly concerned with health of his stock.
Recommends the number to form minimum groups etc to customers.

One particular customer was insisting on adding a Cichlid to the group of live bearers he had already picked out, the owner refused and lost the entire sale.
Just quietly opened bags and returned the fish to the tanks after the offended customer left the store. Kudos to him.
Have heard him question some of the patrons about the intended home on some of the larger growing or more aggressive stock quite often.

From what I'm told my eggs should hatch within a week of spawn. Cant wait.
