Well, today, oddly enough (!) some of it seems to have fallen out. Or perhaps broken off is more accurate. Still a smallish piece wedged in there but I think it is about to work its way out too. She seems happier, too!

I'll keep an eye on her, though, and if she deteriorates I'll try my surgical skills.

Glad to hear things are sorting themselves out on their own. If I'd spotted it had been there for 4 months I would have said just keep an eye on it.
Why pay for MSS to go to chicago. You only need to pay for a one way trip for me. I'm sure I can skip my visa again. lol
Anyway if you ever need to use the method it's daunting at first but quite easy, the fish wont flip or jump about.
Formalin is a 37% solution of Formaldehyde. It should be the same thing in the States.

so is my female blue variatus!!! all signs of foreign object gone, tail a healthy bright yellow. looks like her blue is bluer too. even the guys seem to be taking interest
