I have a tank containing 6 red eye tetra and recently added two small silver sharks to them. They all get along great except that when I drop some flake in to feed them all the red eyes eat it in seconds before the sharks have a chance to move up and get some. I don't want to over feed the tank by chucking to much flake in. what should i do? I am worried the sharks aren't eating.

Sharks do not like taking food from the surface,in the wild they pluck bloodworms from the bottom with their protusile (sp)mouths. To get some flakes to the bottom crush them between your fingers in the water, also try to feed some live bloodworms to the sharks at least once a week to help clean out their digestive systems and keep them in a good condition.

Yep as cfc says the best way to ensure they get some is to hold a pinch of flake under the water before letting go ;)

:)

There are also many sinking pellet foods out there. Pick some of those up and you should be on your way to some great cats.

I feed my sharks sinking shrimp pellets and brine shrimp in jelly. they love it. they also eat anthing that may be on the bootom of my tank and keep my plant leaves free from debris as well.
