Hi those reading. It has been a long time since I last kept fish. when I was young I had up to 5 tanks at home at one time. Mom got fed up so I had to get rid of them. I longed to have an aquarium again. Mom told me when I had a place of my own then I could get an aquarium. So here I am in my own house and I finally decided to get a 110 gallon tank. Friday I will receive it and set it up. I'm planning to eventually get Discus, but having been away from this hobby for such a long time, I'm a little bit nervous and feeling like I'm starting all over again. If anyone has suggestions as to the steps I should take to setup a tank for discus inhabitants, please let me know.

Thanks for listening :D

Hi
Welcome to the forums and welcome back to fishkeeping
Ive never kept discus but if you ask in the New World Cichlid section there will be someone who can answer any queries you have :)

Hello and welcome to the forum. :hi:

Welcome back to fishkeeping too. That's a nice sized tank to start back with. i really like discus but haven't gotten the nerve to try them yet. They are expensive and I'm not certain I can give them the water parameters they require. I would definitely suggest you do a fishless cycle to get the tank ready. There is a link to a thread on fishless cycling in my signature. Good luck.

Welcome to the forums!
Cycle your tank and do weekly water changes (or more) to keep your water good and find some good food for those discus and they should be good.
