We have a 4 gallon tank which currently hosts two guppies. The tank has been going for about a year and previously had four guppies but two didn't survive a vacation where feeding was inconsistent. In the last few days we've noticed small (but growing) white creatures stuck to the tank walls. The creature bases are up to about 3mm across with tendrils up to 8mm right now.

I checked photos of common hitchhikers but couldn't find a match.

Any idea what we might be dealing with? Thanks!

It's a freshwater limpet... But the white worms surrounding it... First time I see that.

Edit: After a little more search, it could be eggs...

If it's what I'm thinking now... You will need a car wiper to see inside that soon.

It seems that they lay their eggs in gelatinous strains of 1-3 to 3-8 eggs clutter, depending on the species.

From these (excellent) pictures... You are going to have a Limpandemic.
