New To The Hobby?

Hey,

this has probably been suggested before but...

Theres a new to the hobby in the tropical section, but there is no new to the hobby in the marine section? I would have thought it would be much better for newbies such as myself to ask questions in there instead of asking them in the marine chat.

An interesting idea. I will flag this up to the salty mods and see what they reckon.

I don't think there is enough general chat to warrant a SW newbie section. The newbie section in the FW section (why do we split it as tropical and marine? Almost all marine tanks are tropical...) helps prevent newcomers' queries from falling off the board due to rants about lfs staff not being professors of Ichthyology and repetative questions on stocking. You tend not to get so many threads in the SW section so a newbie can far easier keep track of any queries.
