Hi all!
I came across your site and it looked like a pretty nice place to join! I am a goldfish mom of 7 fancies. Our goldfish family recently grew and it made me want to find other fish people to share it with...most of the people I interact with at work or family members think I am nuts for stocking my 75 gallon for goldfish!
Here's how the goldfish family started... I apologize if I get long winded...
To start, I had a 75 Gallon Tank that was housing one 5" Calico Fantail and two Clown Plecos. I decided I wanted to up my goldfish family and set up a 30 gallon quarantine tank.
My sister has a 40 Gallon Live bearer tank and was in the process of setting up a 55 Gallon tank because she also wanted to get some goldies - so we set up a 30 gallon quarantine tank for her while she prepared the 55 gallon.
We went out a few weeks ago and bought 3 goldfish each - - I bought an orange/white ryukin, a orange/white fantail and an orange/black telescope eye, she bought a black moor, a tiny calico oranda, and a bronze/black oranda.
After a few weeks of quarantining and having no deaths, no symptoms, and interactive and happy looking goldfish, I added them into the 75 with my Large Calico.
My sister took one of my clown plecos for her livebearer tank because my very persistent male pleco would not leave the female alone.
In the mean time I had also been tossing over a few ideas and racking my brains about what other fish might work with my stocking in the 75 gallon...good thing I hadn't bought anything yet!!!
Very early the other morning I get a call - - her 40 gallon broke a seal so she had to move her livebearer tank stock over to the 55 gallon. Now she has no where to home the 3 goldfish she was going to move into the 55 gallon this week....hence her calling me! I told her that her 40 gallon would be an easy fix, but by the time she had called me she had already moved her stock and filters, drained the 40 gallon, cleaned up the spilled water, decorated the 55 gallon and took the 40 out to the trash...
So...Now I have the 3 goldfish who were supposed to be housed in her 55 gallon in with my 4 goldfish in my 75 gallon. They were still in their quarantine tank and had been doing well for about 6 weeks so I felt okay adding them into my 75.
Guess I am fully stocked now!!!! 7 goldfish (2 fantails, 1 ryukin, 1 black moor, 1 telescope eye and 2 orandas) and 1 clown pleco....
Calico fantail: "Wizard"
Fantail: "Honey"
Telescope Eye: "Rinaldo"
Black Moor: "Curri"
Ryukin: "Rooki"
Calico Oranda: "Bubbles" (side and top pics so you can see the wen growth)
Bronze Oranda: "Randy" (side and top pics so you can see the wen growth)
I will post tank shots too, but thought I should break up the posts a bit!
