Thanks, I am glad you like it!

Here is a pic of my 55 gallon:

What kind of Bettas can live together, as far as gender goes?

Thanks!

With betta splendens (your normal 'fancy' bettas) . . . males can't live with males or females and females should live alone or in groups of 6+

However, some other bettas (such as betta imbellis) can live in mixed sex groups or pairs.

Remember - heaters don't just heat the water, they also keep it at a stable temperature. Might be worth getting a small one so you can keep it at about 80F most of the time. Bettas like the water warmer than many tropicals. In a small tank, the temperature will be all over the place. Something as simple as a breeze from an open door could lower the temp.

yep - if you're going for your standard betta, only females can live together. A good number is 6, 4 CAN be done but is harder work (apparently) but I have 12 :D

Okay, thanks! I guess we will just keep the one...lol

What about opposite sex? How long can a male and female stay together?

As I said, it shouldn't be done. They can fight just as aggressively as two males.

Even when breeding the breeder is having a lucky day if both parents leave the spawning tank unscratched.

Some people will claim it is possible or it is the way they keep theirs, but these are exceptions to a very widely regarded rule.

Okay, thanks for the reply! We are just going to keep the one.
