I have just recently acquired a Betta and I need to know a few things?

Is salt necessarily?

How often/how much do you feed a single Betta?

Thanks!

I don't think salt is necessary.

little amount of food twice a day should be fine, their stomach is suppose to be the size of their eye.
You can feed Betta pellets or freeze/dried bloodworms.

Good luck on your New Betta!

is your betta in a community? if so he will happily eat flake with the others too.

one of mine used to refuse pellet food and only eat flake. if you feed pellets, its 2-3 pellets in the morning and repeat at night. if flake, still twice a day, just a small pinch. Some people feed twice a day 6 days and have a starve day. (i dont)

Bettas also love bloodowrm (dont use freezedried it bungs them up), brine, daphnia, pea. They love a varied diet. Pea is good once a week to flush them out.

no salt is necessary, only in injury. theyre really easy to keep so dont worry :D

oh, PICS :D

Thanks guys!

I will try to get pics up tonight when I am done with work.

The Betta is for my Girlfriend, so her tank is a 2.5 gallon (the Betta is the only fish in there) and decked out in pink, yellow and white (substrate... a fake plant...etc)! You will see pics soon enough. She likes it, so that is all that matters!

fake plants are good, but IF you can, use silk, they stop the tears in fins (not the end of the world mind if you can't)

I think putting in plants is better, it better mimics their real life habitat, and makes the aquarium more interesting.

Yeah, lol, unless the plastic plants are pink and white...

It's my girlfriend tank, so she likes it.

haha Yes I do like the setup of my tank! It is all about the pink and yellow. My poor boy betta. He never asked to live in a girly fish tank! Haha Oh well! :)

Sorry, I will try to get some up maybe tonight.

I've just been very busy lately.

Hi fatheadminnow and fatheadminnow_Missus :flowers: I'm happy to find out that you'll be posting in this section.

For some excellent information about betta basics be sure to listen to Coryologist's interview with Mark Denaro here:
