right because my aqua 40 tank has been leaking a bit im taking it back to my lfs and swapping it for a different tank (but of course i have to pay the extra of however over £40.00 it is!!)...now i am going to swap it for a Fluval uno 500 which holds 8.24 gallons approx. it comes with a fluval 1 plus (are they any good??) and food etc.

Now i was wondering as its a longer tank and is bigger than my aqua 40 i could keep these fish:

- 2 honey gouramis = 3 inches (1M/1F)
- 5 Neon tetras = 5 inches
- 3 Pygmy corys = 3 inches
- 3 guppys = 3.6 inches
- total: 14.6 inches 13 fish

i was wondering due to neons being low waste producers and pygmys being small would tis stocking be ok in the 8 gallon long??? and are FLUVAL 1 PLUS filters good???

+ i dont want to get in an argument with anybody about this im just seeking some advice.

Thats about 10 USgallons

the fluval 1 wont be good enough for a 10 gallon tank with that stocking list.

So you'll have to go with less fish. A fluval 2 plus would work in that tank, thats what i use, or get a neheim aquaball, or even an external filter if you want.

Get the fluval 2 plus instead of the 1 plus, with the tank, and your list could work.

I would watch the guppies, as they get older, they may start fighting and getting dominant ones.

50cm long / 30 deep / 25 wide i think? might be more on the length :S

its 19 inches long, 1 inch more than yours...and i see you run with a fluval 2 plus; i was told the 1 plus was no good due to the lack of sponges and how u cant alter the flow.

Eheim aquaballs i like and have seen for £12.00 for the 2206 which is the lowest one in the series. would this be ok?? i like it as i has a venturi and flow altera. :good:

have to talk my mum into it as she aint to happy about the change and more money (even tho im buying!!)

- external for an 8 n half gallon!!!

anyone?

by the way it is like 9.9 or something g so you may aswel class it as a 10g.

as for your stocking you need more guppies 5 is a minimum in my opinion for males. male guppies grow an inch so with that you would have 16inches of fish.

just have a better filter than the fluval 1 + which i use on one of my 3.5g tanks and your good IMO.

:good:

so your saying the fluval uno 500 is 9.9 UK gallons not US gallons?

the fluval 1 plus runs tanks up to 45 litres so it will be fine Qays

well like i said i run fluval 1 + 's on my 3.5g tanks.... fluval 2 + would be the option you should go with as your slightly overstocked aswel.

:good:

more money, that seems pointless buying a tank with one filter and getting another, what can i do with the fluval 1 then!

sell it on ebay, youll get half of your money for the fluval 2.

The fluval one is mainly for tanks 45 litres or less.
But! If your going to get alot of fish, the fluval 1 wont handle it and youll have water problems. You'll probably have lots of clogging with the filter too.

So go with a fluval 2+ and you'll be ok.

£55.00 mark, so if i upgrade to 2+ will i be ok, how much is 2+?

o it seems much better than 1+, it has clogging indicator (how does that work?) and flow adjusta and venturi system, do u use the venturi Qays?

mate if its £55 quid dont bother thats a complete waste of money you can pick up a juwel rekord 60 for £60 thats 60ltrs ive also seen in fish shops at cruise hill 60ltr tanks for £50 not sure of the make but i wouldnt waste your money on such a small tank especially when you have to change filters etc and cost your self more money.
