I will admit Sukie..you continue to break all the rules...that clam is a risk. SH

Dont know if I am missing the point here or something - but from empty tank to fish in 4 days? :/ All ive read and been told would lead me to believe nearer 4 weeks !!! How is this going to work for a small reef / nano tank then?

Just curious - as im leaving ours for 2 weeks or so before even adding cleanup crew -_-

She's using pre-cured live rock from the sea, sand from the sea, water from the sea. I would think this is like transferring stock from one tank to another which can be done straight away.
It's only when you set-up your tank with 'new' stuff their's a problem.

Mmmm, go me thinkin?? How much is property on the pacific coast???lol

jealous as hell!!!!! :grr:

Not neceserally true, shipping times of Live Rock from an LFS or in this case the'Sea' can still lead to mini-cycles if there is any die off during the 'dry' period

If you are transferring stock from one tank to another (ie Upgrade etc) where is the LR is only briefly out of water then there will be no die off & there for no Mini-Cycle

True. . .

I've just moved and when we drained the tank. . . all my coraline algea that got hit by air died. . .:(

But I'll have to go Aug's update, very soon!!

So getting a house and doing work around the house has put Aug's pics down the shoot! But here's the tank as of today:

I added another fishie - one of the local club member had tank raised baby cardinals so I had to snatch it up!!! Named him Wallace:

And then the corals. . . of which are doing good except I tried an arco because on of the club members gave me a frag but I knew it wasn't going to survive under PCs.

If you want a closer pic of any of the corals let me know. . I'll see if I can get off my lazy butt to shot it

So whadya think??

Very nice Sukie! Love it! They look like Ricordea in the last pic! Nice find! Pics of the Brown Macro please! :D

Looks great Sukie. I'll be interested to see how long it is before you start having "turf wars" with so many species living so closely together. Good luck

Oh there's a turf war right now with the xenia and the frogspawn. . . but I have like 4 other xenias. . . so no biggie.

Miagi - I'll get you a pic of the algea for sure!!

Hi sukie, first time i have read this post for a while .Just wondering , is your clam OK,can't see it in the new Photos.

Yeh I didn't really get a good pic of the calm. . . he's in the first pic. I need to reposition him - but nothing bad to report.

I would also like to note - that since I moved to a new house, I've place the tank right under a window that allows good afternoon light to come in on the tank.

So PC lights w/ all natural light -

Glad you still have him . Smashing tank by the way
No pun intended.

Well I guess it's time for some kind of update. . . (this journal is so pathetic!!! )

HE'S GETTING SO BIG!!!

Everyone will be happy to know. . . I moved the calm to my bud's house. I think the move really stress him out. Also I found some Pyramidellid snails on him. (I cleaned him off and we moved him to a tank w/ MH lights. . .)

I'll have to post more pics of the tank throughout the week.

I was wondering what the minimum tank size that fella fits into? I have 2 clownfish and was wondering if he would be a good addition to my 30gallon....

Cardinals are great nano fish for pretty much any size tank. They're always on display (meaning they dont hide in rocks), but they pretty much just float in the tank and dont swim around much. Beautiful statues if thats what you're into :). They also do well in pairs like clownfish as they are sexually dimorphic
