The time has come, the new tank is here. It is a 55 breeder (36"x18"x20"), not quite as large as I wanted, but plenty big enough and its all i have room for. I am also purchasing a digital camera soon so I can record the progress and post it on here.

Right now Im kinda broke...but since I started this hobby Ive been broke so no worries. Im looking at stockking options. I would like a bunch of small fish instead of three or four bigger ones.

Here is my list so far:

Purple firefish
Fridmani or Neon psuedochromis
bengaii cardnalfish (still have one from cracked nanocube)
2 ocellaris clownfish (wish I could have a maroon, but they get too big and mean)
six line wrasse
spotted mandarin

any other suggestions?

It will be a long slow process. Right now Im finishing the stand up, had to be a custom job because of the overhead pod fuge, and the special sump.

Pics as soon as possible.

Well that is 8 fish for 55 gallons, none of which are labeled as small. People can overstock their tanks, but only if its done over a very long while and have lots of LR and powerheads to utilize it in filtration. Why not just do one each of the clowns and cardinals? [Well unless you want to breed them of course] What all are you using for filtration?

What do you mean small starfish? Brittle, basket, linckia, fromia? None stay small, the smallest I know of is 5 inches and two 5 inch stars might even be overkill in 55 gallons. Hopefully you will have a very thick sandbed if youre heart is set on more than 1-2 of these. And a lot of times, even one just simply wont do well, and should only be added to a very established tank. Its good that you will be doing this over a long period of time. Hopefully you have the patience to carry out that goal. :)

I was only going to have the one cardnal fish, and as for starfish, Im pretty sure they are brittle sea stars. I have tons. I would almost guess there are a hundred between the two ten gallons my live rock is in at the moment. They are all quite small and appeared out of the live rock. I am trying to keep mostly nano sized fish, with exception to the mandarin.
