My fist attempt at a planted tank!

It's actually a square tank just the app on my phone to take a wide-angle photo xD

I'm not sure if I'm happy the left side looks a bit messy
And my LFS has limited plants...

Thanks.. Wish I could find some moss for the cave and tree though.

I'll just have to keep an eye out.

Unsure whether the variagated plant on the left is aquatic or not.

Rest of it is looking good mate! :)

Update.

More plants.
more fish.

I want more plants in the center but only something that will stay quite low..

any ideas?

I'm only using stock lighting and some 'aquatic plant food'

also im not to sure about my floating plants... hmmm....

Personally speaking i would move the wood off centre a little more so it isn't the first thing the eye notices. What are your fish fish now Rick?

Everything else is looking great buddy. Floating plants are personal choice. I like the amazon frogbit but thats about it from the floating selection usually available.

They are in my Sig =]

the number in brackets is where I'm trying to get the numbers to.

Im still unsure about the floating plants... they wont stay where I want them because of my filter xD

Ill have a play around with the wood tomorrow I think see if I can find a better place, and I'm hoping eventually the java moss will climb up it

You would probably be better off with christmas moss mate, very attractive and not as 'messy' as java. Weeping moss is even better, but you pay alot more for it! lol.

The floating plants do look a bit messy, but do a job and serva purpose. Especially if your neons feel comfortable enough to spawn!

Fish sounds good, you decided on a centre piece fish yet? Think you was considering gourami's iirc?

Your wood looks little rude and especially with the ball of moss at the bottom :D

Not really....

I like:

dwarf blood red
opaline
pearl
honey

BUT my local fish shops dont sell those ones.. they have golden, kissing and another one I cant remember...

and I'm hoping on getting 1 male and 2-3 female but that website doesn't give the option on sex, so I'm unsure...

Shame mate. Is there any LFS further a field?

Honeys are great and were my suggestion in your thread ;)

haha I know ;P

there's 1 BIG lfs but so many stories about people buying fish and then wiping out all there aquariums..

but if they were that bad they'd be closed down.. and these story's could just be people that didn't know how to look after fish... so im not sure.. but they do have a huge amount of stock.

they do have a wall of fighter fish... each cell is probably 2l if that.. and they look SOOOOO depressed lying on the floor...

Thats the way most lfs sell fighters though mate unfortunately which is indeed very depressing. One of mine actually have them in with other fish which is much better to see as you can actually watch them swim and spy any deformaties.

I'll stop by and take a photo tomorrow..

They must have about 40 on the wall.. which tbh is a bit to many as I doubt they would sell so many.
