I've began the process of starting a new tank in my bedroom. I'm currently working on finding plants and doing research. The tank is 15G, its 2ftx1ftx1ft. 100W heater, Aquaclear HOB filter.

I have always really enjoyed seeing Cory's and there interaction with their world and each other. From what I've read I'm looking at pygmy Cory's or 3 lined Cory's as they are the smaller species, i would like to keep the smaller varieties so that i can keep a larger number of them. The other stocking plans i was planning was a pair of German rams and possibly some lemon tetra's. Depending on the bio load i will determine if a larger filter will be needed.

So first I would like to know if anyone see's any problems so far?

Secondly, I know I've read before but can't recall what temperature is prime for the cory's i listed above? From that i can compare to the temp for the German Blues.

Oh yea, substrate is play sand, so i have that covered.

Thanks in advance for any input. Pics might come up later.

Most cories like cooler temps - around 24oC, while German Rams need 28oC minimum, so mixing them probably wouldn't work.

Why not go for an all cory setup? Make it as much like their wild environment as possible?

As said above, most cories like cooler temps, but sterbai cories (a bit bigger unfortunately- about 3inches) like warmer temperatures (25-27 degs). Pygmy and 3 lined cories like 22-26 degs, so you could maybe find another combination of fish

Completely re thought the whole set up, 15G will now no longer hold any Cory's The 55G will! It's currently gravel but I've wanted to change it to sand for a while now. Sooo... I'm going to, The stock will include;

1 Female Adult Angel
5 Bleeding Heart Tetras
1 Green Spotted Pleco Adult

Possibly krib pair,

6-10 group of cory's haven't decided on variety yet since i'll have more room I'm no longer limited to the smaller varieties.

Temp will be determined by Cory's I'm thinking the 74-76 range, still within the angel range but lower towards most cory's i believe.

What do you think? Be Honest now! When the change is finished pics will posted!! :good:

Hi there

Stocking looks good, but i would advise against putting a krib pair with cories, kribs become very territoral when in breeding condition and may bully/kill cory's,i'm no expert its what i've read here :)

Ah yes, I'm starting to remember this also. Was thinking of adding so many plants and caves that the kribs would pick a spot and just be. But you can never tell before hand if it will work. The Cory's will come first then I'll do more reading on Kribs and their behavior.

Thanks for the input! :good:

Hi Darkerwhite2 :)

There's always a risk when you keep corys with cichlids or any other possibly aggressive fish. They do best with more peaceful fish. Corys also like to have an expanse of the tank floor open so that they can swim freely, so if you are able to arrange your tank that way, so much the better.

Corys are fine little fish and I'm sure you'll enjoy yours. I hope to see your corys and tank once you get it finished. :D:)

Ya I'm starting to see that the more i read into the cory's. I think the Kribs will have to wait for another tank. Thanks for the info about the tank arrangement. I didn't think about that, Should be set up today (minus the new plants i'm going all planted )if i get going on it. Fish won't be added for sometime now though still haven't decided on what type of cory to get.

:good: Was hoping to hear from the cory queen (hope you don't mind me saying, i have seen your tanks lol) Thanks inchworm.

There's loads of fab corys out there,

Have fun with choosing them :good:

I would've loved Kribs, but after having a good read up on them,i think the majority of my community tank would've disappeared to krib midnight snacks

UPDATE ! I know I'm fast but i had nothing to do today. Sand is in tank and rescaped...ish
