Hi all

My in-laws are building a new house and want to have a pond fitted. Now I'm quite at home talking about tropical fish but external stuff is where my experience ends.

Could anyone tell me what the best and most cost effective way of lining a pond (i.e. pond liner, fibreglass pond, concrete etc.....)

The pond would mainly be a feature with plants and possibly a few goldfish.

Thanks
PJ

Alot of this has to do with pond size and the ground you are putting it in.

If a smaller size, and/or rocky ground, A preformed pond is most likely the best bet. If a larger one is desired, the most cost effective way is a liner. If you have anything but sandy soil, I would look in to an underliner of some sort to protect it. I used scrap from a roll on roofing manufacture (I happened to work there at the time) but anything that won't decompose, and provide padding from the ground it is in will work.
