New Pics! New Cories

Have you taken pics of the others yet?
Are they being held hostage in that camera of yours... or do they just refuse to smile?
When are you going to get the replacements for the ones you lost?

I need to see the fish... :shout:
How long are you going to make me wait? I'm not that strong... I can't take it! :shout:
:friends:

Because someone got pushy :big_boss: I downloaded on my home desktop over the weekend so I could answer the demand for pics. So now it is back to work with the lap top. The pics are at home, but I am not. I snapped some more, but I only have one usb cord for the camera. I didn't have time to pull it off the desktop tonight.

Actually the Super Schwartzi and Weitzmani were being so cute and posing for me so nice, I couldn't resist getting their pics up. I am having a harder time getting the shots for the others. I did some big water changes this morning. (I missed lots of sleep, because when I should have been doing water changes, I was loading pics :p ) So the lasers and caudimaculatus may decide to do some group activities. So far they are just in little foraging pockets and sporatic individual dances.

They are large groups (12 and 9) so I would like to see them in some big group pics. I think you will like the little caudimaculatus. They are very small, 1.5" maybe, and have cute little round noses. They are still skittish and run when I get close with the camera. Tonight one was watching me, wiggling at the window at midlevel water, but he ran when I moved up close with the camera. The wild ones' color and poka dots are much better than the aquarium bred one I already had.

The so-call 'Super schwartzi' are closely related to C. pulcher and were stated as such by Nijssen in 1973, however after close examination it can be seen to be not actually related to either and should prove to be a distinct species in it's own right. It has the id number CW028. They have also been given the names C. pulcher v2 and C. sp "White spine"

I have a very special one, which has won Best Fish in Show on three occasions this year.

Ooooohhhhh! Aaahhhh! very nice! :hyper:

You come on just as I have to leave, Ian.

So these are the same as Barracudas Pulcher V.2? What about my Pulcher v.3? Can I put them together? Or will they breed and get confused. I so want to put them together.

Do they have Cory Shows on the west coast of California?

Congrats! Man if only the Weitzmani wern't so expensive, I'd love to get a large school. Healthy lil cories you got there, good luck with them :)

Nice fish, Ian! Since we are all whipping out our pulcher pics. Here are mine for comparison. The flash drowns out the color, the dorsal and pectoral spikes have more orange in it. Fish courtesy of Bryan. :)

Ooooh! I'm really looking forward to seeing your prizes grown up. I'm not sure I should not have gotten the Pulchers. I love the dressed up retro look, like fancy collars! My v.3 have it too.

Here's some more pics of my Cories from this recent batch and others too.

Just to review:

The business like well dressed CWo28 / Super Schwartzi / Pulcher v.2

More later....

Definately worth the wait! Beautiful fish!
Thanks for the pics. :thanks:
I noticed you said more later... :hyper: :yahoo:

Hey, I like the look of the green lasers. Pretty nice. A shoal would look nice in my 20g, which has recently been rescaped and fish have been moved around to other tanks. But they are a bit pricey. Hurry up and get some green laser love going.

OK, lljdma, I will work on it. I have some good lovin juice in the fridge.

I took some Cory juvies to market today. The manager was very happy with the pepper long fins. We talked about what he might like to have from my future stock. He was very excited that I had Brochis splendens and wanted me to get on that one!

I have my first Panda fry in the grow out! I am sorry the pics are at work, but they are ready to upload, and I will post them next week.

It seems according to the Aqualog:

The fish we are talking about here are listed as

C. schwartzi Variant II (my new babies)
C. pulcher Variant II (Baracuda's)
C. pulcher Variant III (my old Corys)
C. pulcher (lljdma's monsters :p )

These are reputed to each be a separate species and all are unrelated.

It is very confusing.

And I understand from Ian's post on PlanetCatfish that he has a numbering system to try to straighten it out. Still the fish above I understand to be unrelated. But I can be pretty certain at this stage to not understand anything but the most rudimentary information: Are they the same species? What can I call them?

Next week is only a few days away.
I will be nice...
2 reasons...
My danio is dieing, and I have long fin wigglers...
I don't know if I should be sad or elated. :-( :shifty: :yahoo: :dunno:

And we thought identifying C. aeneus variants were hard. :hyper: To me, the catfish in this thread all look alike to me. Is size a factor? Mine are monsters. I want more. Then I'll move my 5 Brochis to my tetra tank and keep a shoal of C. pulcher in the big tank. Nice. But for now, they are together.
