well ive gone and got some live rock for my "inadvertant nano adventure"
what started off as a small tank to get my molly back to health it ended up as full marine and the molly is doing great.
popped in 5kg of live roch, one piece is covered in green hair algae and 4 or 5 tiny tube worms and a tiny red tentacly thing.... any ideas??? its really small at about 3mm across

as you can see i can answer any question on water chemistry but to things that live im useless

i think my nano is about 7uk gallons would a dwarf fuzzy lionfish be ok in that??? or should i stick to a clown and some hermits

just to add
im building a 15 gallon (with 10 gallon sump) system using swimming pool technology (spares i have in my van  ) open topped with overhead T5 lights and all will be transferred to that when its ready so no jumpers :good:

Neither a clown nor a fuzzy dwarf lionfish would be suitable in a 7g. Look into the clown gobies as a more appropriate choice, though snails and hermits should be fine.

The red tentacly thing is most likely a feather duster.

i thought as much with the fish, ill wait till my other tank is built for them. hermits it is then.
as for the red thing, ive got feather dusters on the rock as well. this is scarlet and the tentacles are thicker shorter and are almost squid like, its very odd

ill try and get a picture but its very small

well i took the kids to the lfs and came back with 4 dwarf blue legged hermits and a clown goby

stats for the tank are spot on now ive changed from the API test kit to the salifert test kits

its actualy more stable than it looks
the new cabinet im building will house the 40" shallow tank and the nano all fully plumbed to 2 sumps so its just a temp resting place at the moment

The red worm is a bristle worm. It is red with white hairs right? Def a bristle worm. I guess if you plan on corals, would def give the piece of lr a freshwater dip to kill it... though this will prob kill everything else too... but if your just gonna do a fowlr then no worries :good:

Agree that there is not many fish I would put in a 7G. The clown goby is a def possibility with a shrimp or two and some snails... bout it I'm afraid.

whats wrong with a bristle worm? They are harmless (unless touched by soft human flesh).

I heard they can attack softy corals... if this is wrong please correct me... im not 100% sure

Fireworms can, bristleworms cant. Bristles often get a bad rap for the problems caused by a few fireworms.

And for anyone wondering, fireworms look WAY different than bristleworms mostly in coloration. Fireworms are brilliantly red/orange with bright white spines. Bristleworms by contrast are dull and more rust colored. If you see a fireworm, you can't miss it, they're striking creatures. If you see a bristleworm, meh, looks like an ugly worm :)
