New Marine Tank

well is your tank juwel or roma? if its juwel it will say juwel on the front.

im affraid there isnt enough light in either tanks for corals and the only realistic route would be a MH or an over tank luminaire by arcadia.

Sorry I should have explained I am planning my tank with the lighing and what not.
So I don't make mistakes later on which I have heard are costly.
I think I will keep on searching for suitable lighting.

Its so hard to find tubes which are the right length (80cm), the right wattages (2x 39w)

Unless I got those liminaire things which are about £300!

look at the interpet compact T5 starter units, you could build your own hood, or install a 55watt bulb into the front and rear flap if that would work?

and there starters are £36 for the twin 55watt, starter so 110watts in total and then with your existing lights, replace the tubes to one daylight and one blue actinic(for the juwel ones alreayd installed)

THESES?

If so how do they work?

(*)
Is it possible to be 24w under the recomended amount? apparently those starter lights burn to hot, so really unsure of what to do. So far I have planned to not change my ligting until I start to have corals... after the tank is matureish. This should give me some time to get it right!

Well I have officialy saved up enough to start my marine tank :hyper: :shifty:

All I have to do is gett half decent grades on my mock exams  In fact I should be revising now :shifty:

can't get distracted *says to self quietly*

Thanks for all the help from everyone here!
If anyone could answer the above question that would be great.
Should be starting a journal around Jan - Feb so stay tuned for that!

Tom.

PC's are OK in some situations. Forgive me if I've already asked but how tall is your tank and what corals do you plan to keep?

No problem, I don't think I have fully said which corals I am wanting:

o Toadstool leather coral.
o Finger leather.
o Yellow, button, star, sunburst, clover polyps.
o Organ pipe coral.
o Kenya tree corals.
o Gorgonia corals.
o Mushroom corals.
o Any other recommendations will be much appreciated!

My aquarium - Juwel Rio 125

Hope this is what you wanted.

Tom.
