We picked up a new pleco this weekend, an L075 Para Pleco and he is gorgeous!

No pics of ours as we haven't got a camera anymore :X , but he looks a bit like this one, only he's not as gold in colour yet.

You can see the gold starting to come through on his dorsal fins and his tail, so hopefully, once he has settled into his new home he will start to show off his colours.

His little spotty face is just adorable!

Might be able to get a pic on the hubbies camera phone but not a very good one, but will try :D

 What a gorgeous plec. Hope you get some pics on the camera phone. It just so pretty. Love the spots. :good:

:D

Congrats - how many is that now? You've probably overtaken Kathy *lmao*

I love para plecs, always wanted one, but they wont go in with my bristlies and rusty as their diet's different.

Hi LisaLQ

We are now the proud owners of 3 lovely pleco's. We have Eddie (Royal), Alfie (Albino common) and The new Para plec, not named yet.

We are quite lucky I think because Eddie is just not interested in anything meaty at all. He's content with his cucumber and wood. If there's cucumber in there he will scoff until it's gone so we can put meaty stuff on the other side and he won't go near it.

We tried the Para plec with a prawn but he seems to prefer the cucumber. He was sharing with Eddie until he ended up sucking on his nose accidentally! I swear, Eddie had a look of pure shock on his face! LOL.

So we can separate the feeding to opposite sides of the tank with no probs whatsoever! Still trying to get a photo cos he is sooo gorgeous but only got a camera phone and it's a bit crappy :X

I have had my para plec for a couple of years now, he has to be one of my favorite fish, they are full of character and personality  ! Some can be very skittish when new, but if you are patient and let them get accustomed to the tank and you, they can be some of the most charismatic fish in the tank :) .
They are omnivores so enjoy a bit of everything in their diet, a varied diet is best (particually one that includes frozen or fresh foods, not just dried ones)- i feed my para plec a mix of cucumber, prawns, mussels, squid, cockles (such foods will need to be weighted down, some aquarium plants come with handy metal weights which can also be used to weigh down food for your pleco's :) ), algae wafers and catfish pelets :) .

Thanks Tokis-Phoenix

He is really settling in now which is great. His gold colour is coming through nicely. Still not into the prawn though so will try something else.

Please to hear about yours being lively! :D

Yeah he is the most active pleco i have :) - at first when i first got him though he was a tiny little plec and was absolutely terrified of anybody who went near his tank (i think it was because his tank at the shop got tapped on by little kids trying to make the fish move, the staff were very clumsy catchng him), it took some time for him to settle down and become tame; i got him tame by simply being there when he was eating, so he had to come out to eat but also eventually got used to me being there too :) .
Now he's very brave and full of character and shares the 125gal tank with the other plecs, even though he's not the largest plec in the tank, he makes sure that he gets his fair share of food and is not shy at all to eat at the same slice of cucumber with the big common plecs :good: .

Awww, bless him. Glad he has a nice home now.

My para decided to try and share the cucumber with our Royal, who's not huge but bigger then him. As he munched his way along he ended up on the Royals nose. The Royal wasn't best please and looked quite shocked to find another plec sucking on his nose
