New Impulse Bought Betta, I'm Thinking 'pinky'

I picked him up from BAS in Bolton and I cant figure out if he is damaged or just under developed. Well here he is...

Is he a particular type of betta? Im not really up on my fish yet so i cant remember what their called, but im sure you can have more than one of those living together, could be wrong though so dont hold me to it

He's a Betta Splenda and should never go with another male.

He's a difficult one, not 100% that he is male. Very pretty though! If he is a male, then he's a wild type or plakat type- these are often mis-sold as juvenile females. It looks like his tail has been nipped, but that should heal up nicely in the next few weeks.

I'm about 70% sure that he is male, but a female would mean shorter ventral and anal fins, a smaller beard when flaring and an ovi spot (although ovi spots are not a 100% sure way of identifying a female). If you could get a picture of him flaring and a clearer one of his ventral fins it'll make it easier to sex him for definite.

His body type and fin shapes are very similar to my own short finned male. He's a difficult one to tell, that's sure!

Appears to be a cambo female. The pectoral fins are very short compared to a Plakat male.
