New 90 Gallon Discus Shots

Nice shots DiscusLova. Just love those fish!

I wish I had gone with the 90 gal. instead of the 60 (tall 55 gal.). 18" instead of 13" would have been nice.

I've been watching the local mom and pop lfs that has discus. They have had a few of them for the last 3-4 months using the local tap water (small town). I am still undecided if it is a good idea for me or not. I'm still talk the wife into a 90 to go in the same room.

They called it a 60 gal. tank. I measure 48"x25"x12 1/2".

65 gallons actually. Unfortunately the height wouldn't accommodate Discus :( Looks like you would have to try and convince the misses. Good luck  :good:

May I ask why the height wouldn't accomodate the Discus? This is something I have not heard of. The info would be appreaciated!

Thanks, I did not plan to highjack your thread.

Because the Discus are high bodied they need high tanks. Discus natural habitat are slow moving, deep waters in the amazon. If the tank is under 18 inches they would probably be cramped and probably won't grow right.

I may have miss stated. The tank is 25" high. It's a 55 gal. tank dimesions footprint I believe with the additional gal. added in height.

Im super jelous of your new tank DL. Looks like a really nice setup you have. Did you get a new camera too? Those pics are really nice.

Gorgeous! I've always wanted to keep Discus, I guess I just never actually got around to getting some. I have an empty 55 gallon my basement, maybe I'll try to keep some in that........I dunno.

The tank is kind of bare, but those fish are great looking!

Cheers,
