New 90 Gallon Discus Shots

Gorgeous! I've always wanted to keep Discus, I guess I just never actually got around to getting some. I have an empty 55 gallon my basement, maybe I'll try to keep some in that........I dunno.

The tank is kind of bare, but those fish are great looking!

Cheers,
GobyMaster

A 55 should be alright, but research is key, only go for it if you can commit to the work it takes to keep them.

Tank has to be bare bottom for growing them out. I was thinking I would put a black background on it but I think it looks fine by itself.

. You've put a lot into your Discus and they look great!

Wow  Thank you!!!!

Tested the water before the water change and they are as follows:
Ammonia: 0
Nitrite: 0
Nitrate: Between 0 and 5 (closer to 0)

Thought I would test not only for me but for Rabbut too! Looks like the filter is working alright so far.

I'm so jealous, I wish I could have Discus but do the the lasck of room and funds that's a far off dream. Very very nice looking fish though.

My favorite fish doesn't seem too happy today :/ He is kind of off by himself, sticking close by the filter intake color isn't as vibrant he has darkened a tad. All the other fish are fine. Checked water parameters and they are all the same as yesterday. All of them ate fine this morning but I noticed his color was a littler darker.

Not sure what the problem is but going to do a water change and keep an eye on him.

I noticed a bit of a funny smell coming off the tank probably D.O.Cs it almost smelt like dead fish. I noticed the poor looking fish was breathing pretty quickly. I only have a 30 gallon air pump on the tank, could the tank not have enough oxygen? I don't think the canister does much as it's facing more towards the bottom of the tank.

Anyways I did a water change and the one fish looks a little better, the other fish look about the same as before.

He ate again but maybe not as much as he normally would. What the heck is going on!? All the other Discus are doing great and loving their new home. He is much darker then normal, but definitely no where near black or anything. He is hanging out at the top by either the intake for the Fluval or up in the other corner of the tank where the bubble stream is.

I have a fish that does what you are describing from time to time. Usually after a day or two she is back to normal.

It's spot on because I woke up today and he is normal!! He came to greet me up at the front of the tank this morning, ate with his regular appetite and has been swimming around happily with full colors all day!!

Really odd.

He was probably being picked on by another fish. My smaller turk gets picked on by the other turk occasionally and will sulk for a day or two afterwards but then is back to normal.

Not sure he is the highest in hierarchy and the biggest, possibly the pigeon blood may have moved up during move not sure. But it doesn't matter, as long as he is back to normal. :)

beautiful fish you have there. We sell them at the shop... it has been really tempting to get two of them, but i don't think my tank would be able to handle them...

but they look amazing... especially with that lighting.

Thank you! Lighting is Coralife marine lighting compact fluorescent.

Trust me, Discus are so tempting. You would not believe the self restraint it takes every time we get in a new shipment
