new 55 gallon

my husband called me today all excited because he found an ad in the paper for a tank and fish $100. that was all it said. i called the lady and all she knows is its a 55 gallon with 2 sucker fish and 3 regular fish. I am going to go check it out in the morning but right now i am just dying to find out what the heck "regular fish" could be. my best guess is that the suckers are some sort of pleco but who knows. But for 100 bucks why not buy the tank. if i dont like the fish i can always trade the lfs or maybe one of you for something else. I am hoping that whatever is in the tank can be temporarily housed in my 30gallon community tank while i set this one up.

Similar thing is happening to me right now. I have a choice between an 85 gal. for 200 or a 55 for 150. I think I am going with the 85 gal. even though I will need to buy a heater for it. Comes with fluval (sp) filter/pump and two hob ones and a metal stand. I will be making an oak one for it if I buy it....I just don't like the metal and press-board/laminate stands.

I know nothing about filters, but I think they are supposed to be good. It's 1 1/2 years old - bought new. So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Comes with plecos and a jack dempsey if I want it...lol


Let us know how your experience turns out! I hope I can read up enough on these filters, etc. to figure out if everything is ok! With my luck, it will be a filter case without the motor, etc! lol

well im hoping its not goldfish because she said there was a heater in the tank but i suppose anything is possible. ill let you know
