Need Some Ideas

Cheap flight to somewhere on the Med coast. Then see if you can blag your way on board a research vessel studying sharks. There's always swimming with Basking Sharks around the UK (least I think you can) Why look at them through glass when you can do that at home. Go swimming with them in their natural habitat.
Failing that, stay at home, save up then go to South Africa and take a plunge with the Carcaradon Carcarius. I'd absolutely cack myself beforehand, but I'd love to see my fave fish in the flesh (Behind the relative safety of a cage of course)

Sealife in b'ham wasn't what I expected. Had some nice exhibits but was a lot smaller than I thought it would be. The rays were fantastic :) It looked a bit dated in places and some of the setups were a bit, odd.

Never been to The Deep but it sounds cool :) I have a mate who drives to Grimsby quite often (Grimsby town football supporter  ) I might see if I can hitch a lift with him one weekend!

I wouldn't have a problem with going to Germany for an aquarium! I'm sure theres plenty of other stuff to do there!

well thanks for the ideas, it looks like Europe is off
I have decided to stay in the UK so now the three choices I have are
Blue planet
Eden Project
Aquarium of the Lakes (Windermere)
unless you can suggest a better one

Its a good time of year to see wild salmon leaping (after some rain). Maybe some sort of nature trip involving that?

Slum it wolf and come down to the north of england lol.
The deep is meant to be good in hull

Hey Wolf. I was at Blue planet aquarium last month - loved it (apart from the 100,000 kids). It is fantastic place - plus your not far from chester zoo there either.

I was really disappointed with the eden project. I imagined it to be really interesting, but it wasnt, I really was bored in under an hour with the place.

Chester zoo (bit depressing) followed by the Blue Planet (thought they could have done better) followed by Cheshire Oaks (cheapest decent brand clothes shopping going) followed by Martin Mere (excellent for the budding ornithologist) followed by canoeing at Sale water park (plus a potential visit to the doctors for weils disease) followed by a trip round the erm.... about 13 non-chain LFS easily accessible from the Mancunian ring-road then back to Sale for a drinking competition with yours truly?
2-3 days easily filled in Cheshire/South Manchester, could always visit Chester as well, a nice historical city....

it is all off :(
I've had a slight accident in my car (see car forum) and won't be going anywhere.
at least I have my health :)
