So I should get Maracyn 2 and still keep using my medicated fish food? What is columnaris?

Also my guppy still has the white poo but appears to be swimming around a little more than before but shes still acting weird.... I think this is a good sign?
My black mollie seems sick... All the others are still swimming around like normal. A few have white poo but seem ok.
:/

For now carry on with the medicated flakes let them have time to work and add some melafix to the tank or salt if you have no scaless fish good luck.

Unless your LFS is a REALLY outstanding LFS...asking their employees...not a great idea. Most LFS employees will sell ya stuff they have no clue how it works. Mardel products are great, I personally dislike Jungle for anything BUT plant care tabs. My store I work at doesnt even sell Jungle meds or edible meds due to their lack of working. I recommend and sell Mardel meds. Please, dont waste your money on Jungle meds...just spend a little more and get mardel meds. Its is worth it.
IME Jungle meds are wonderful for "scaleless" fish, and work much better than mardel products on them, and they work just as well as any mardel products on other fish... as well as give fair warnings to use half-doses on sensitive fish, which mardel does not.

I doubt her fish has columanaris. She would see other symptoms, like cotton-like growths. I know, my fish have had it before. I also know from seeing lots of black mollies come through the pet store that they seem to loose color when they are sick or stressed. I wouldnt treat for Columnaris yet, if she shows more symptoms ya, but right now lets not over do it. She is gonna be stressed out enough as is. I really hope you dont use Jungle meds, cause most likely your fish will die before the Jungle tabs even start helping at all.

P.S. Was their a point to your post Black_ghost_guy...or was it just random? 2 people have said Jungle meds stink, and I have more personal experience to back that up. She also doesnt have scaleless fish who are having an issue. So, uh...thanks but no thanks?

Hey! I have one person who supports jungle meds! :)

I do thank everyone for there opininons and help.

I am still feeding the medicated jungle food and to be honest I "think" it may be helping. My guppy is still not acting normally fully but she has started to swim around abit more than she was and I have seen her take tiny bites of food...

My mollie on the other hand seems sicker but the good news is that she has been eating a tiny bit of the medicated food I put in there :/ I guess only time will tell...

Some of my fish are rubbing now... ILike flicking against the gravel and plants. Is this a sign of external parasites?

I did test the water using "the quick dip test by jungle" and this is the results I got:

nitrate - between 0-20 (the color was a light light pink....) and the test says 0-40 ppm is safe??? I thought it was suposted to be zero???

nitrite - .5 (caution)

total hardness - hard

total alkalinity - between moderate to ideal

ph - neutral (what number is neutral?)

Are these results ok? Jezah I know you said you used this water test kit too....

Thanks again everyone :X

hey Mariah,
The NitrAte is ok - I have heard some people who don't think it is a problem before it is at 60ppm. With regular water changes you will keep it in a safe level (unless of course, your tap water is high in NitrAtes....)
With the NitrIte reading, normally you would do a water change, but I don't know how that works with the meds you are using. I am sure one of these fine people will let you know :)
Also, I have found ( and I know other on the forum agree) that even though the liquid testers are a bit more inconvenient, they are generally more accurate and reliable - not saying to replace what you have, but maybe next time when you need testing stuff, have a look at the liquid ones.
best of luck!!

Ya, I was told that the water kind of testers are better but this was what I could afford... When I get some extra money I will defentally invest in it! What about testing for ammonia? My kit dosent have a test for ammonia....

SAD NEWS - My mollie has died :-( I kinda knew last night before I went to bed she might not make it through the night. She was laying in a plant by herself. This morning she was floating head out of water in the plants I have in my tank.... I did the best for her, Its such a shame because she was such a pretty girl. Shes the one that gave birth to all my fry (7 of them) I guess she did her job here on earth by leaving her memory behind with the fry ;)

My guppie is still pooing white poo but shes the only one with the white poo now... The others that were showing signs have stopped.

With the water change, the food im feeding dosent say anything about water changes but I was planning on doing one today.

I bought some "parasite clear, tank buddies" I was thinking of using thoese today in the tank. Anyone have experience with these?

Thanks

Egh, Tank Buddies stink! They dont work at all. I use those test strips and hey are acually surprisingly accurate as their simplicity leaves less room for error. Those readings are fine, except for the NitrIte. NitrIte is a deadly toxin and even the least bit can kill your fish. NitrAte however is harmless and actually good for live plants if you have any. The only bad thing about Nitrate is it can cause algae growth. Everything else is ok, as livebearers like hard water and neutral PH is ok. I am sorry you lost your molly :rip: . Do a water change and good luck!

Sorry for your mollys death hope the others make it good luck.

Wow, two people sure is impressive. I can give you the names of four people right now that could vouch for them. Jungle works very well... and it seems that you have a very biased oppinion. ;)
