Need more help with my guppy

Ok well I have 3 neon tetras left. I read the article and they are not showing signs of NTD as yet.
I just got home from work and now my black lyetail mollie (the one that had the fry almost a week ago) is now on the ground in the back of my tank behind my green crombia....
Man am I having problems! I just dont understand whats going on here. Everything was fine untill the guppy started with the white poo, now everything is falling apart!
I did buy a water test kit so I will post the results after I do them. Can anyone help with my mollie now?
Thanks :-(

Hi there! I've been following your story here, cause i'm going through something similar in my tank. My female guppy had white stringy poo, my pleco has brown stringy poo but lot's of it, and my 7 danio's and 4 neon tetras are hardly moving. I have been testing alot too trying to figure out what's going on! Yesterday I started treating the whole tank with Maracyn by Mardel, the active ingredient is erythromycin (an antibiotic) I treated them again today they are starting to swim around more. I'm not out of the woods yet, but did get a promising sign today. I use the tetra brand lab test kit and it works great. I'm no expert, only been in the hobby for about a year. This is the first time this has happened to one of my tanks. Also, about your fry....I have 2 kinds of fry in this tank and they are all seeming better than the other fish. They have been taking this treatment fine, in my experience they are pretty strong little buggers, especially when they can keep from being eaten!! Anyway, I'm sorry about the fish you have lost, I'm heart broken when one of the poor little guys die, and I can understand your frustration. Good Luck to you and let us know how things go.

You are just taking a big risk keeping the fry in the medicated tank. Doesnt matter if they eat the food, some of the food is bound to dissolve and leach into the tank. You other fish sound like they have it now. I would remove any scaless fish and add salt to the water. Unfortunatly, the salt will harm the tetras too so I would remove them as well. Salt helps livebearers(guppys, mollies, platys...). I also have heard bad stuff about edible meds, I would use regular maracyn, or another add to the tank med. Good luck. -_-

daniaduncan - Thanks for the support and understanding :) If the food doesent work im going to try the tablets by jungle with the food... I dont know if im suposted to do that or not... I will ask at the lfs inless you or someone else knows?
How does Maracyn by Mardel work? Is it a liquid?
My female guppy (the one who started everything) is swimming around now but than goes back to her spot at the top by the heater by herself. Maybe thats a good sign? Im not even sure if she ate any of the food though. I know the others did eat some though, maybe not the tetras....
Now my mollie is sick. Shes such a pretty girl and I think shes pregnant again... I would hate to loose her but things are not looking good....

Update - both my mollie and guppy are with each other by the heater.....

Unless your LFS is a REALLY outstanding LFS...asking their employees...not a great idea. Most LFS employees will sell ya stuff they have no clue how it works. Mardel products are great, I personally dislike Jungle for anything BUT plant care tabs. My store I work at doesnt even sell Jungle meds or edible meds due to their lack of working. I recommend and sell Mardel meds. Please, dont waste your money on Jungle meds...just spend a little more and get mardel meds. Its is worth it.

What do you think about the tablets by jungle?
I have tuned up the temp to 83 F gradually. I have no where to put these tetras/fry. I dont want to put them in the 50 gal and infect thoese fish. Im just going to have to take my chances... But I do understand what your saying.
What is maracyn? Is it a liquid?
Thanks

For maracyn by Mardel do they sell tabs or liquids? Whats wrong with Jungle?
Thanks

maracyn is a tablet that dissolves slowly in the water, you use one tablet per 10 gallons once a day. I have only used one or two jungle products and feel the same way as jezah, I didn't like them. Maracyn has been the only thing i've used it worked great with the ich. I also agree with him on being careful who you talk to at your local lfs. there are only 1 or 2 employees at mine that know anything at all. My female guppy is hanging out by the heater too. My 10 gallon tank is all black mollies that were all born in that tank. I lost the 2 original ones we bought a couple of months ago. It also has 1 pleco who is about 6-7 inches long! he has grown a bunch we have had him for 9 month now. Thankfully, that tank is doing good. Hopefully tomorrow will be a better day for us and our fish. Good Luck!

Nothing is "wrong" with Jungle per-say...they just dont sell meds that work well. Maracyn is a tablet as well. But now that I looked, Maracyn two is actually what you want. Maracyn 2 is easier to absorb through skin and can treat internal infections, it too is a tablet. I understand about the fry, and with livebearers I actually wouldnt worry...there is plenty more where that came from.

Could I use the maracyn tablet with the Jungle food? :dunno:
This is what is says on the Jungle food:

Aids in control of interbal flagellates, trematodes and cestodes which include hexamita, spironucleus, intestinal worms, tapeworms and nematodes. Than is says stuff about feeding....

Also the test kit I bought is by Jungle as well. I was reading the mardel test kit and the jungle test kit and it says they both test for the same thing... Is that jungle product ok?
What does "FW" and "SW" mean? This is what is says on the kit:

Nitrate
FW: below .5 ppm
SW: below .5 ppm

Nitrite
FW: below .5 ppm
SW: below .5 ppm

Hardness
FW community
50-150 ppm

Alkalinity (buffering capacity)
FW community
120-300 ppm
SW 180-300 ppm

ph
FW community
6.8-7.2 ideal
SW 8.0-8.4 ideal

Is the above stuff correct?
Also my mollies mouth is white now... Shes suposted to be black....
Thanks for the advice everyone, I need all the help I can get. :-(

FW= FreshWater SW= SaltWater. I wouldnt use both meds, I would only use the Maracyn 2. As far as the test kit, it is misleading. PH is dependent on what fish you have. Livebearers need alkaline hard water, and some cichlid prefer soft acidic water. I use test strips by Jungle and have no issue, I wouldnt however, use their meds. I would test your water and post the parameters here, just to make sure they are in proper range.

When I get home from work I will test the water. Does anyone know whats wrong with my mollies mouth? Shes acting weird now. The guppy is swimming around more... My damlation female is also on the ground now...Oh, and my mollie with the white mouth is loosing weigh too...

She is black right? It is my experience that black mollies loose color around their mouth and other areas due to stress. It is a normal reaction to being sick. Unfortunatly she WILL lose weight and may die, internal parasites are nasty little things. Good luck though. :(
