Hey guys, I just picked up a new aquarium that my dads friend kind of let go. They had two fish in the aquarium that they didn’t know the species. Can you guys help me out with these pics? The plecos had babies, and there is a male brittlenose in the tank with her. Does that mean she’s a bristlenose? Or could the babies be hybrids?

It's a bit hard to tell but it looks like a female bristlenose catfish.

The other fish looks like an overweight balloon convict cichlid. The balloon varieties of fish are man made mutations with a shorter body. Unfortunately this can squash up the fish's internal organs and shorten their life span. It's not your fault, just letting you know about balloon fishes.

Looks to be a bristlenose. Can we get better pics? It’s either a Balloon convict or another variety of balloon convict like sapphire. Perhaps a convict x parrotfish.

That was funny. All I could see was the Cichlid in those photos and you saying it looks like a bristle nose, thought it was April fools for a minute. 🤣

How should I get his wieght to a better place without starving the gourami and plecos? Will the chili’s eat off the algae wafers?
