happened 2 notice 1 of my my red eye tetras was looking well fat and scales were lifting up. i was,nt sure what was wrong , but i was sure it was more than just a greedy fish.2 days later it was dead and it looked as if its abdomen had exploded. On further examination i noticed a guppy and atiger barb were missing (dead). this prompted a visit 2 my local fish shop were i was told my fish had DROPSY. :hyper: it was recomended that i done 50% water change / start treatment with anti internal bacteria and remove any fish showing signs of the infection :/ With great reluctance i had 2 flush my big tigar barb and my red beta (gutted :-( ) 1 week has passed now and 1 treatment 2go. Touch wood, fingers crossed an all that but so far the rest are doing well . DROPSY NASTY !!!

Hello big G and welcome to the forum. :hi:

I'm sorry to learn about your poor fish. Dropsy is indeed a terrible disease.

I'm glad you are joining us on the forum and hope you will have better luck with your fish from now on.

Sorry to hear that big G, I havn't had a disease with my fish before but im sure it would not be nice, welcome to the forums and I hope you get some help. :hi:

Welcome

Im sorry to hear about the infection :-(

I do hope you killed the fish first!!! See euthansia topic pinned in beginners questions! flushing them is a cruel death

Also flushing even a dead fish can infect waterways and local fish if your water company is not that hot on good practice (which lets face it most are not)
