I have a planted 10 gal and as i was doing a WC the other day, i noticed a small fish i had never seen before. I’d say it’s about 3 weeks old since that’s the last time i added any plants, an egg must have hitched a ride. the only other inhabitants are 6 neon tetras and a couple snails.

The fish is approx. 1cm long, very slender, with an olive-grey body and two black horizontal stripes, one across the center of the body and the other across the bottom. It looks very similar to a siamese algae eater, but the tail is rounded and not forked. I can add photos but they’re not very clear. He mostly hides in the plants and has survived 1ppm+ ammonia

Just an FYI you can treat your plants before you add them to the tank, to remove any unwanted passengers into your aquarium.

A lot of people use potassium permanganate, or bleach. Don't forget to rinse thoroughly before adding to the tank...
