at the weekend i brought a fish home from work. a lemon goldfish, completely missing her caudal fin and body past her anal fin. she WAS perfectly healthy until i got home from work the following day and my boyfriend had let the dojo loaches in past the divide in the tank and out of curiosity had nipped her to heck. she was then separated into her own tank and began a course of melafix/pimafix and salt. hopefully this may work, if not i will be so upset. i was wondering if anyone else had pictures of any fish missing tails like this as i came across one on the internet and cant find it again. she was lucky to get this far, it would be awful to lose her now. :( :-(
she looks like a sun fish! :)

Were you hoping to nurse it? Sounds like it has some serious body rot. What does the end of the fish look like? How do you mean perfect health? Surely if it has some of its body missing all is probably not well?

its genetic. there is no scarring and she looked like a sunfish when i brought her home. her body seems ok. and the fins arent too bad, shes being kept as clean as poss and to be honest the state i found her in on sunday i didnt thinik she would last the night. she has slipped through the wholesalers culls and into the shop and i think it would be a shame to lose her now. ill try and get a pic, but i assure you its genetic. ive seen it before in feeder goldfish on the net.
she is pretty, wouldnt condone doing it on purpose like happens to some cichlids but shes an individual.
its just a case of nipping really.

We really need a pic to pass judgement but if its that serious then the fish may well be seriously diseased. Its amazing how well fish can cope with injuries.

plus, she is a very strong swimmer and eats more than my large goldfish!
i have to stress though that her tail has not been lost through nipping or infection or accident. its just a deformity

the nipped fins are dorsal (but thats almost healed) and anal which is fairly bad. her body looks worse than it is. ive had fin rot and body rot on fish before and it doesnt look like that and she has no sickly behavioural symptoms. but i will post a pic later today

ok. heres the best pic i can get.

ok. ill put it in my signature for a bit cos im rubbish with computers

ok. i give up. cant do it, but i do have a pic of her if anyone wants me to email them with it or expain to me how to do it
