My New Seashell 60X18X24 Wdh

How do your corydoras get on with the cat litter? Got cat litter as a substrate in my planted tank and would like to add some corys but wasnt sure as the cat litter is so lightweight so wasnt sure it would be suitable

Corys are fine on it, its quite light, they snuffle around in it as do the loaches.

Plain old gloss black paint from Homebase, nowt special.

Not looking anywhere near how I want it, very much work in progress.

Chucked in a Hydor 4000 LPH powerhead on Saturday too. Clown Loaches are enjoying it!

My DIY tubes with cat litter stuck to them have worked nicely though, got a couple in the back and the clowns pretty much hang out in there all day.

Need to pickup a few 90 degree joints for something a little more interesting :D

All the crypts have melted and now started to grow, need to buy some more of them now, should hopefully carpet it a little.

Hi Tizer, I used your idea with the cat litter, I'm new to all this fish keeping business and want to have plants as well as fish, I heard on a few other forums this cat litter is very good (other than the washing of it) and over time gets better at holding plants in (3-4 weeks) as it gets heavier.

I only have a small tank (105 litres) but, I'm saving for something bigger (330 litres) and need to get in to the fish keeping business (too excited to wait)
Great tank by the way and cheers for your inspirational ideas!!

Here's how my tank turned out 24 hours after putting the washed cat litter in.

Looking good mate, its a very vibrant substrate! Cheap too, which is great :D I'f you are going to plant it up, consider some root tabs under some of the plants, remember this stuff has nothing good in it, unlike many of the planted substrates, so tabs are a great helping hand. It isn't very good at holding plants down and some of them you have to bury deeper and pull them up a little when roots have grown.

This is my 90 litre

Similar size to yours, i'm constantly replanting the Vallis in there at the moment, its got very little roots on i as its only a week old from the local shop.

Just found your thread, i'll keep an eye on it! :D

Gorgeous tanks Tizer! The thread's a good read too, made me laugh a few times!

does the cat litter not turn to mush? did when my cat peed on the stuff we had...

Got another 6 Clown Loaches at lunch, well, 7, the woman scooped up too many and let me have it free. £40 well spent :D

Time to offload some corys in favour of the loaches. Do i ditch the Breeding Sterbai group, the Schwartz's or the Venezuelans?! Either way, not looking forward to catching them :D

No enjoy that! Haha. What colour morph venezuelans are they? :) Are they black?

How many clown loaches is that now?

How does your RTBS get on with your Khuli loaches?

The corys are standard jobs, not black unfortunately :( very nice bronze/rust colour though :)

The RTBS died :( Found him when i got home from work one night, no idea why, he wasnt bullied, he chased the SAEs around like a boss. Was an odd one. Not bothered replacing him.

17 Clown Loaches now, all pretty small. Will round it up to 20 eventually and call it a day. Working on the wife this summer to upgrade to a 6 or 8 footer. Chucking loads of old fishing tackle on eBay to raise the cash at the moment! :) She will probably nick it all and go buy baby clothes though. :)

Haha, an even bigger tank?! Wish I had the room :( one day :hey:

The bronzy ones are still pretty though, I've never seen any for sale before.

Poor rtbs :( I wonder what happened to him.
