My New Journey To Reef Aquarium

still looks like mine like i sed not that good of a choice being that you will have a hard time geting out the plastic strip to clean it. moon lights are the same and so is the casing "black part".
if i were you i would lean more to the coral life stuff then the current. its just put together better IMO.
and lights are cheeper to replace easyer to clean and work with pluss the mounting lags
are cool too.

My tank is less the 24' deep

The differences between all the fixtures you've posted thus-far in the $200-250 range are exceptionally minimal. Really the only way you could get more and/or better lighting is by purchasing either halides or a T5 kit with INDIVIDUAL reflectors to mount in a pre-existing canopy. If you have a canopy and are handy enough to screw in some reflectors, clips, and use some wire nuts, go right ahead and make your own fixture. If you dont have a canopy and don't know what a wire nut is, might be better to just pick a light fixture that has allready been posted here :)

Ok I have my aragonite sand, Live rock is on its way and ordered this lighting system mr. sept recommended But when you order it ask for a lighting configurations. Can you guys please give me suggestions of lighting configurations.. I am starting a reef tank with SPS corals.. or the most easy to moderate to maintain corals.

This is the lighting description:

This is the new 2007 Model 48â€￾ 260 Watt Power Compact Light from Catfish Lighting!! It comes with four 65 Watt straight pin bulbs, which is perfect for aquariums, reptile tanks, reef and coral tanks, and plant tanks. You have your choice of bulb configuration; 6700K, 12000K, 50/50, or Blue Actinic. Please let me know what configuration you want at checkout. It also comes with new hard plastic mounting legs which allow you to flip up the unit for easy cleaning and feeding. It now has 8 Blue Moon LED’S, 2 in each sock 4 sockets. Three switches, one controls the first set of bulbs and the other controls the second set of bulbs and the third controls the Moon LED’S.

thanks guys

two 50/50 bulbs and dont go for SPS straight away, start off with easier LPS till you get water quality and your aquascape setup. Also remember, SPS (even the easier ones) will only succeed at the top of the rock stack with PC lighting in water that is 10" or less deep

-thanks ski.. 2 50/50 and what about the other 2 bulbs.. there are a total of four...
I meant to say LPS sorry... I am very new to the reef/coral aquarium..

-Also I have a Canister filter.. What type of media should I be putting in there for proper filtration for my reef aquarium. -Also what added supplements do you recommend?

if i were you id go 2 actinics and 2 12k's since there are 4 bulbs..as for media i'd run carbon and rowaphos..since your tank is new you will most likely face an algae problem sometime soon.

Oh, its a quad setup. Well either go with what Ikon said or go with 4 50/50 bulbs. Same amount/type either way, just different configuration.

Ok guys... My live rock will be arriving tomorrow.. 45 US pounds..YAYYY!!! :hyper:

Ive never done aquascaping so any tips hints suggestions would be awsome...

Plus What do you recommend for stocking for my 55gal reef aquarium.. ANY SUGGESTIONS HELPFUL!!!
let me know what you think on fish and inverts etc..

thanks..cant wait to hear your responses..

My only tip for aquascaping would be spend some time today before your rock arrives looking at other peoples tanks. Do a search and see what you come up with. It will give you loads of ideas :good: also don't be too worried if your first attempt looks poo, you can always change it.

Ok, Aragonite sand, and Live rock....CHECK Lighting system is on its way...

I haven't done aquascaping before at all... Tell me what you guys think and what changes I should make ,any suggestions on aquascaping.. etc..

Here are some pics..

Thanks

is that all the live rock you need or are you adding more??

I would try piling it up a bit into a few "islands" and see how it looks :good:

Hey, looks good.... I read that you have a Canister filter, well.. how much live rock do you have? If you don't have enough lets say 1lbs per gallon... well your gonna need 2 add stuff other then carbon and po4 remover 2 your canister.. if u do have 1lbs per gallon and ur rock is cured.. then all you really want is carbon and po4 remover even from the start! and clean it very often... if u dont have 1lbs or rock per gallon.. let us know..
