My Mollies Fin Has Split

hi my male mollies dorsal fin has split it hasnt been bitten or attacked by other fish and just wondered why it has started spliting is this normal or something wrong with it

It must have been attacked as there ant any reason why it should have done it on its own.

someone said to me it could be fin rot would that be why,he seems happy since its happened though which is why its confussed me

Its been attacked, it may have been at night or just when you didn't see. Fin rot tends to work its way down the fin to the base of the fin, not make splits. Also if it was fin rot the its tail would have gone a grayish colour at the edges.

ok thanks for letting me know as its tail looks fine, since its happened he seems happy and showing off his fin more.will it be ok or grow back or is there something i need to do

The only thing that you can do is keep an eye on the fish and see what happens, like if he is getting bullied by other fish with out you knowing
