My Koi ponds and Koi

What kind of plants do you have IN your pond?

I find it annoying that we have 2 great clumps of oxygenating weed in each pond which they hide under espcially in the top pond.
I have a small pond where the waterfall comes from in the 10,000 which houses plants so they are not in the main fish pond. This has oxygenators, floating plants like water lettuce and various marginals.

The 6,000 has Iris borders and a couple of water lillies with oxygenating weed and the odd floating plant like frogbit.

Those are Mad Sizes Ponds Ryan.

Your Koi Are Amazing.

great ponds .i can only wish they was mine ,my garden is long and narrow and i have 2 young kids so raised ponds are my only option ,how deep is the larger of the 2 ryan ? ,id be digging into clay :( so when the day comes when the kids grow older ,im not looking forward to it

The 10,000 Gallon is 25' by 14' and 4' deep. :)

hats off to you Ryan.

This is truly an impressive sight! Gee, if I only I was PAID for my interest in this hobby...it would solve all my problems. (Then I wouldn't have to work to save for things for my fish).

 :kewlpics:

Well one of the ponds, the larger 10,000 was already there but hadn't been used by the previous owner so abit of work and that was set to go. Then the 6,000 just happened over a few months using a digger we got the hole done quick and slowly finished it off.

Thanks for all the comments.

Any chance of a pic of the Midorigoi?? Would really like to see it :)

Oh by the way do you know roughly how many fishies you have?

1 more thing!! Do you breed your koi? or do they breed in the pond any way and you can spot some babies sometimes????

I have breed some on occasions when I have a spare few weeks at the right time of year. The Midorigoi is no longer with me, I have given him to a Koi sanctuary type place in Norfolk, I man I know there has a large 60,000 man made river that he keeps his Koi in and regularly deals with imports from Japan so if anyone had a chance of getting a high price for it, it is him. Seeing as I brought the Koi of him at 1-2" and now given it back we have made a deal that if it is ever sold we will split all profits, I also got him in part exchange for a Kumonryu. If I fit in a visit this summer I will take some pics of the place to show you all. :)

Awwwww didn't you like him? I thought he was too special to be rid off....or is it a instant cash situation!!

No I liked him very much but I was only going to have him for a small period of time if he turned out to be a true Midorigoi, as he originally belonged to the guy in Norfolk and I would like to keep friendly with him as he often gets me some very very nice Koi from Japan.

I have 36 Koi in the small pond I think! In the big pond I think I have 54, very unsure on that one though, its so hard to count that many moving fish.
