My First Spawn!

After being a member for months and months, and thinking long and hard about spawning, I'm finally going to do it! I have all the require supplies, and have already started to save jars. Now, I just need some help from all you breeders in picking my pair. I have some boys from Wuv and the girl is from Synirr.... Here's the line up! Kinda like an online Betta Fish Dating Service!

The Female; she is a PK from Synirr's MINI Spawn.

Smooch, a boy from Wuv, maybe if she reads this she can help with the background of these fish.

Dylan, who is another boy from Wuv,

Blaze, yet another beautiful Wuv boy,

and Lastly, Nitro, from Wuv:

Well what traits are you hoping for in the fry? Don't you need to ask yourself that first? Or are you just randomly choosing a pair? Is this going to be your only spawn or are you aiming for something specific in the f2 or f3 generations?

I do like smooch, dylan and blaze though... in no particular order.

Honestly, I'm just looking for opinions of what pair would blend best. I'm hoping to put some on Aquabid, so I'd want ones that were breed quality, and I'll be keeping some myself, plus I have a great LFS that will take some. So just looking for my best bet overall. And yes, this will probably be my first and only spawn.

It's a vary addicting hobby - breeding. You wake up one day and say ...awww they're all so big, i miss the itty bitty ones. And so begins another spawn.
Really it's so rewarding raising the beauties and it sooo exciting when they start to get colour!

Personally, I don't think Smooch is a good candidate, adorable though he is. He's opaque and I'm not sure how well that would mix with the iridescence of the female.
If Dylan and Blaze are from Wuv's red spawn then they're actually the female's uncles . I think they're DT carriers (right Wuv?) so you'd get 50% DTs out of a spawn with them and a lot of reds. It looks like the female carries marble by the way her red is kinda blotchy, so you would *potentially* get some marbles too, especially judging by the patches of skin tone on the faces of the boys. If you used Dylan I think he'd throw you some cambodians by the look of him. Oranges and yellows are a possibility too, I think, though they probably wouldn't be very clean what with the iridescence.
If Nitro is from Wuv's plakat x CT spawn like my Sitri is, you'd get 50% plakats and 50% long-finned with him. 50% would also carry the CT gene, so that would be one way to start a CT plakat line if that interests you

Hey! Been REALLY busy with a litter of puppies, who are going home today.

I don't believe Dylan & Blaze are from the same spawn, as I got them at different times, Blaze is a little older. Maybe she'll read this and can verify. I love the CT's, so Nitro is looking like a good option to me at this point... but Blaze is such a beautiful fish, tough decision!!! Maybe I won't have just one spawn, LOL!

Dylan should throw some interesting fry if coupled with the right female (I do have sisters of his still, by the way, but they're all green. My green/orange F2 resulted in mg and bf's and greens)
Blaze is from orange and red, a nice cambo or red girl would work just fine.
I can't tell ya much about Smooch at all. He's from overseas and I can't remember which breeder he came from

OK I'm a bit confused....if you take a full PK and a CT/DTx...wouldn't that be just like breeding a doberman/chowX with a full great dane...and the puppies that resulted would be a mix of all 3 genos?

Wouldn't that make the fish a PK/CT/DT mix...with the possibility of that fish exhibiting a mix of, all ,or one of those tail types, just like the puppies from the above mentioned mix would be dobie/chow/dane mix...giving them the possibility to exhibit the characteristics of a mix of, one, or all of the breeds in it's now bloodline?
