Not at all. your fish are gasping but not dead so you know what the DC would say!!!

Too high - yellow. Just need to get it down a little so that it reaches lime green and your fish will tell you this. they will get back to business.

Many people use the DC at the beginning and after that tend to watch the fish and plants for signs of CO2 to high or low. Mostly a confidence thing. Daring to push it as high as possible with the confidence you aren't going to do any damage.

Fortunately, I work at home so I have all day to monitor/fiddle with my tank. I have dropped the water level. It was previously above the lip of the top brace to prevent rippling. I'm now getting a nice ripple at he surface and will try adding the fish back in this evening. I have a couple of spare canisters that I can try if this doesn't seem to be enough. Thanks for your help. I'll let you know how things go.

Thanks, I was using an Aquaclear but it wasn't producing much ripple so I swapped it out for a cheap Hagen Elite that I had laying around. I have better filters that I could use but the opening in the back of the hood prevents me from using many of them. *sigh*

My Monosolenium tenerum is looking pretty iffy. Do you think it is worth trying to resurrect or should I just throw it out? If you think that I can save it, is there anything that I can do to help it along?

I never had any luck with it either. I'm not the man to ask about mosses etc. lol Pellia seems to be one of those that works in some tanks and not others. Mikaela has a journal where she is getting it to grow like mad. maybe have a look at her journal. Its near the top somewhere

Bit of an update...I was away for 5 days and the hubby was supposed to be taking care of the tank. He left the lights on for 72 hours straight so I came home to the glass covered in algae. I cleaned the front glass for the pic...miraculously the algae left the plants pretty much unscathed.

No, no deaths. Aside from the algae, it looks better than before I left.

That will look very good once the stems start to bush out. It will give a nice concave composition with the wood tieing both sides in :good:
