Thanks Aaron. I actually did check aquamoss.net and determined that it was Singapore moss. Now that it has grown more the branching has become a lot more regular.

Going to gravedig this topic for a little photo update. I went low-tech with this setup a little over a year ago. I have not dosed CO2/ferts since. I'm pleased with the results.
