You know how some people hear the words "pit bull" and have
an automatic assumption about the breed? Well here is a pic of
my "Ferocious" pit Ra giving the bunny a bath! Fritz loved it!

She's lovely
There have been some very interesting (and quite heated) debates about pitbulls on here. I'll see if I can dig some up for you :) it might make some interesting reading for you.

Edit: here's one of them with a fantastic link by BlueIce. If that doesn't make anyone sob, I don't know what would......

This was another good thread.

There was a ferocious pit bull at work that would lick the newborn kittens to stimulate them into passing bowel movements. She tried to nurse them as well, but was spayed and not lactating, so it didn't really happen.
I also know a brutal, vicious pit bull rescued from a dogfighting rink that has a stuffed animal we call his "baby" because he carries it with him very gently - its never been damaged - and sleeps with it curled up at his side. But he isn't like those wonderful family pet yorkies that will bite your hand off if you try to take away this very special favorite toy; he'll just watch you with his head on your knee until you give it back.

Gorgeous dog, and gorgeous rabbit. I nom them for POTM, because we need more pictures and info on what wonderful dogs properly trained, well-loved pit bulls are. ^^

Wow that video was powerfull. Have to say that it made me cry too.
You have a lovely dog there. I would love to own a pit or staffie bull, I think they are really nice dogs and every pit or staffie I have come across is more likely to have licked me to death than bitten me. Yes they are powerful but like it says in the video it is man that makes them be nasty because of their powerful nature.

POTM I love that picture it so cool I hope you get a second one. And good luck in the contest not that you will need it. That picture is awsome.. :kewlpics: :kewlpics: :kewlpics: :kewlpics: :kewlpics:

Awww, how adorable. I love that pic. Yep. you can definitely see how ferocious your pup is, just look at that tongue. :p Looks brutal. I also nominate for POTM.

And you know what they say about Pits, it's the owner, not the dog who makes them vicious.

Thanks guys! He is so mellow, laidback, and gentle it's almost funny! I tease my hubby about his vicious attack dog...the only thing he attack is weeds! It is so funny when we go for walks, he'll run up to a weed, growl at it, rip it out and shake it like there's no tomorrow! wierd, he doesn't touch flowers. We got him in a "not so good" neighborhood for $50, they were going to use him to "train" full blooded pits for fighting because he's got a little bit of shepard in him. *outrage at dumbass people*
Here's one more just because I love him!

Here's one of mine...she looks like she could almost be a relative of Ra.

Sorry for the huge pic size...I suck at resizing.

Oh she is just gorgeous!!! What is her name and how old is she?
(I watched that video clip at work and now my mascara is all smeary :-( )

My mother is scared of pit bulls so she drilled it into my head that they where mean and dangerous. I of course tested the theory and first chance I got snuck up on a chained up pit, and got all kinds of loves and kisses from the poor lonely guy.

I have since introduced my mom to my friends pit Valcore who is the biggest sweetheart of all times and she fell in love with him. She still thinks he is a rarity in the breed, but makes a point to go with me to visit him.

Her name is "Babe". This is a pic when she was a young dog. She is one of my family's dogs and is now 6 years old. She is a sweetheart and very loving. She is with one of my sons in the picture.

(On a side note, she is also a conformation champion in the show ring.)

She is indeed a pretty dog. I must admit that I wouldn't want a pit bull probably more because of their reputation. I would be too afraid of what "might" happen, especially since we have 3 grand children aged 4, 9 and 13. I guess I mainly fear that the behavior could be inbred and that even though you take one as just a puppy and they have never known anything but love and caring, they could still have the breeding of past "bad" dogs.

That's not to say that people shouldn't have them but I do believe there should be some type of screening process for people who want to get pits, rottweilers, dobermans, etc. Only responsible pet owners should be able to own them. It should almost be like buying a gun.

I have 2 kids, both boys. 10 and 8 years old. They grew up around these dogs and were never once threatened by them. I wouldn't have anything around them that would harm them. I will say though that there are badly bred dogs in all breeds. (I had a golden retriever from a pet store that I had to give up because she growled at them when she had a toy or food. That is NOT acceptable. So, given that I would have to say I am not too fond of Goldens, and much more fond of the pits I have had over the years. And, quite honestly I am afraid of Chows.)
Sorry to highjack your thread NG.
